Bitdefender Total Security 2008 Crashing Outlook Express 6
I have experienced a problem with Bitdefender Total Security 2008 causing fatal crashes in Outlook Express 6 running on Windows XP Pro. For me the error is most likely (but not always) to occur when switching between identities in OE. Switching IDs is a guaranteed killer for OE and while my machine will continue to function normally it will no longer re-start/launch OE without a reboot. Other issues arising are that the control buttons for BD occasionally don't appear in the Express window or if they do they fail to function (ie you can't add a spam mailer from the spam button.
Thankfully, I'm currently using this software on a 30 day trial, and while I really like the interface and that this package appears far less power hungary than Norton I would want to resolve the issues I've indicated above before commiting myself to buying and running this software as my online security/maintenance package of choice. The crashing Outlook Express is a real blow to my confidence in the application.
I would welcome any help from others who have faced and overcome similar issues with this software.
Thanks, David

David,
I am having the same problem with BDTS 2008 causing OE to close when trying to open a new email and also when selecting a user name to send email. I'm using Outlook Express 6.0 (2000) on Windows XP Home Edition.
Pleas refer to my post on Oct 1, 2007, by Ridley.
Right now I'm quite disgusted with BD support in responding to my requests for assistance. I'm still waiting for them to acknowledge emails sent to the BD support team on Oct 2 and 3.
Before installing BD on 9/24/07, I was using Norton System Works 2006 and Norton Internet Security 2007 with Cloudmark Spam Blocker for Outlook Express V3.2.2 and it worked perfectly.
If I can't get this problem resolved soon, I must remove BD and request a refund which I doubt they'll want to give. I really like BD and my computer is much faster since installing it. I also like BD anti spam better than Cloudmark--now if I could only get OE to work properly.
