Why Do My Browser Settings Keeping Turn Back On

Hopefully I can get a faster response here than I did submitting a technical support case. Not to complain but it took 16 days before I received a response. Now I am still waiting for the response after running the support tool.

Please someone tell me how to remove the toolbar from Firefox.

Currently if I go into the settings I have the display toolbar and all browser protection set to off. When I open Firefox(9.0.1) I will randomly see the black tab appear. If I expand the tab sure enough everything is magically on again.

I have attempted the following:

- unistalled/reinstalled Firefox

- ran repair tool on Bitdefender

- removed and reinstalled Bitdefender.

In previous versions the option was available to remove the toolbar in Firefox but this no longer exists. I would prefe to remove it completely versus disabling it.

    Hello

    Welcome to our forums.

    Could you please provide me those ticket IDs so I can search them in the system?

    There is a debate regarding the settings related to the toolbar here:

    Basically it will be turned back on at startup. Our team is working on a fix and it will be released soon.

    I can provide you a workaround and this will stop the toolbar from appearing in the browser.

    When the update will be released, you will have to undo the changes and then you can simply turn off the toolbar from the product and the settings will be kept.

    1. Restart your computer in Safe Mode:

    [How to restart in Safe Mode]

    - Restart the computer (Windows Start button - Turn Off - Restart);

    - Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;

    - Select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".

    - Wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation message; click "OK" to acknowledge.

    2. Go to C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2012, find the file called "bdtl.dll" and rename it to "bdtl.dl_".

    [how to disable Bitdefender product updates]:

    a. Locate the file:

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2012\update_components.xml

    b. Open the file with Notepad and modify the following line:

    <Product enabled="1" name="00010004000500010001000600050001" type="0" id="-1">

    Basically you will modify the "1" into "0".

    c. Save the file (overwrite the original XML file);

    d. Restart the PC in normal mode.

    Let me know if the issue is now resolved. Take care.
