Bdis2012 Blocks Vlc & Foobar2000.

Hi,

I've recently installed BDIS2012(Built:15.0.35.1486), on Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.

VLC media player and Foobar2000 media player cannot play internet radio streams (even with firewall off).

With BDIS2011 there was not any problem.

Any Idea?

Thank you

    Hi :)

    Thank you for the files.

First of all, please accept our apologies for the situation created. Please follow the steps below to check if the issue persists.

    1. Open BitDefender -> Settings -> Update -> here check the box next to "Prompt me before downloading updates". When an update is performed, you will see a box from which I kindly ask you to choose ONLY Signatures Update (do not perform product updates, otherwise the solution below will be canceled).

    2. Restart your computer in Safe Mode:

[How to restart in Safe Mode]

    - Restart the computer (Windows Start button - Turn Off - Restart);

    - Press the "F8" key several times before Microsoft Windows begins to load; you need to press "F8" until you will be displayed a text menu;

    - Select "SAFE MODE" in the text menu and press "Enter".

    - Wait while Windows loads in Safe Mode; this process ends with a confirmation message; click "OK" to acknowledge.

    3. Go to C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2012, find the file called "bdtl.dll" and rename it to "bdtl.dl_".

    4. Restart the computer normally and let me know if the issue persists.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Hi,

I've already sent you a PM with d/l link.

I am waiting for an answer.

    Thanks for the immediate response.

    Regards

  • Hi,

I've renamed bdtl.dll and players play the streams perfectly.

Is there any security problem now?

    THNX

  • Hi

After BDIS 2012 update (15.0.36.1530) the issue still remains. Is there any hope to fix it or should I go back to BDIS 2011 again?

    THNX

  • Hello,

    Any answer???

P.S. I use Foobar2000 all the day (even in my restaurant) so it's very important to me.

    Thanks

  • Hello :)

The update was not delivered for this issue in the latest product update.

Until new information, please leave that file renamed.

Thank you for your patience and for the cooperation with BitDefender team.

    Take care.

  • Hi werby3!

If you would like to get foobar2k get running with the always updated "bdtl.dll", please do following:

In foobar2k go to "Preferences" -> "Networking"

Tick off "Enable dynamic track titles"

foobar2k is now connecting to the radio stream server again.

Unfortunately the track listing do not work anymore, which is no solution.

Maybe this information helps BD to solve this problem!

    Best regards,

    Steffen

  • Hi Steffen

I knew that and of course, the problem is the track listing and broadcaster's names. Also there is no solution (known to me) for VLC. So, we have to wait for a solution (if so).

Anyway, thank you very very much for your response!!!

    Have a nice day

  • Hello :)

We want to solve the issue no matter the settings from VLC or foobar2000.

    Thank you.

  • Hello :)

werby3, please send me a PM with your email address.

    Do not post it here!

    Thank you.

  • Hi Christian,

    It's done.

  • Hi Peter.

Please check your inbox. I have sent you an email.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Cristian,

    I've sent you too.

    THNX

  • Hi Cristian,

You said me that everything's OK but when I rename again "bdtl.dll" the issue is still there.

Should I wait for an update to solve this?

    Thank you

  • Hello :)

Yes, you need to wait for the update to be released. Until them, please let that file renamed.

When Bitdefender is searching for an update on our servers, it also checks the file versions. Even if we leave the new version on your PC, it will be replaced automatically with the version from our servers and after a restart, you will still encounter the same issue.

    Thank you for understanding.

    I just received some news.

The should be delivered in the next build, .37. For now I don't have an ETA, but I will try to get more information on this.

I have this same problem were VLC does not stream and is unable to do updates.

It looks like build .37 rolled out yesterday but it has not fixed this problem on my PC?

    Hi,

I confirm that. Here foobar2000 is OK but for VLC the issue still remains.

So, we have to wait...

    Hello :)

Our developers fixed the issue with foobar2000 and the one for VLC Media Player is still in the testing part.

It will be released in the next product update or it will be pushed to our servers as a standalone update.

I will let you know when the fix will be released.

    Take care.

    Hi Christian,

I' ve recently "discovered" another case for the same issue.

There is a version of adobe flash player-embedded in html-that BDIS2012 blocks.

When "bdtl.dll" is renamed, player is OK.

Bellow are some links for you to visit and see what I mean:

    http://radiomanantial.listen2myradio.com/

    http://3macedonianculture.listen2myradio.com/

    http://kalien.listen2myradio.com/

Please try the little gray player next to Windows Media Player.

    Thank you

I created a request about this and all the data was sent to our developers.

    Hi Christian,

Is there any news on this update / fix yet?

Streaming video through VLC is very important for me and its been over 2 months now since the problem was first reported with no fix.......

    Hello :)

A product update was released. Your build should be 15.0.38.1604(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

    Changelog:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=139660

    Fixes + features:

    Integrate Active Virus Control 3.9.******;

    Integrate TrafficLight SDK 1.5.0.128;

    VLC Media Player 2.x can not be updated;

    VLC Media Player 2.x streaming is blocked;

    Have a great weekend! ;)

    Hello Christian,

    Unfortunately issue is still remaining.

VLC 1.1.11 and 2.0.1 still CANNOT play web radio streams. At least for me.

    Maybe on 2013 version

    Have a good day!

  • I noticed this update last week and can confirm that it has not worked, neither the VLC update or streaming works......

I am using the latest version of VLC 2.01 and running Windows Vista

The only way I can get VLC to update or stream is by renaming the .dll file.

    Have a nice weekend...........

    Hello :)

    Welcome back.

Could you please post here some streams so I can run some tests?

Also, please tell me what internet connection do you user? Wireless or wired? Are you behind a router with firewall?

    Thank you.

    Thank you.

I stream live TV from a satellite receiver wireless and wired through a Draytec router, but the problem should not be with the router as it only stops streaming when the bdtl.dll file is present, when it is renamed to bdtl._ll all works fine. I also stream to other PC's that do not have BD installed with other AV programs installed and they have no problem.

I have followed all of your instructions on creating exceptions for the VLC.exe file and allowed all access from the receivers IP address.....

I have sent logs to Bitdefender support and been assured that the problem will be fixed on the next updates -- 3 updates ago now and almost 3 months......

    Hi Christian,

I try to connect to a simple web radio (i.e. " http://shoutcast.omroep.nl:8192/ " or " http://broadcast.infomaniak.net/jazzradio-high.mp3 " ) but nothing. Also in VLC/Playlist under "Internet", there are some links ("Free Music Charts", "Icecast Radio Directory" etc.) that don't work. And of course I'm behind a (wired and wireless) router firewall but if "bdtl.dll" is renamed, everything's ok.

    Have a nice Sunday!

    Thank you Christian,

One point I may add that may be of help. The problem is from streaming Live TV from a satellite receiver over VLC and updating VLC it returns an error. I have no problem streaming recorded TV from the same satellite receiver with VLC.....

If you need any error logs or the live TV streaming string let me know.....

    Hello everyone :)

I can tell you for sure that the update for this issue was rescheduled for .39 build. But no worries :)

I have a solution for your case. Tomorrow I will send you an email with all the details(I will create a ticket using the email that you used to register on the forums).

Basically, you will need to replace some folders in Safe Mode and VLC Media Player 2.x will check for product updates and also those streams will work properly and this without renaming any files or setting updates to prompt.

Now, I will make sure that everything is OK(now testing the streams posted here).

    Thank you for your patience.

  • Hello Christian,

Now everytrhing's OK. Web radio streams and TV or SAT streams play fine. Of course -if I understand- now we have no automatic product update and we have to wait for .39 update.

Thank you very very much for all you've done!!!

P S.: Please take a look at your PM. I've sent you an important for me message.

    Have a nice day!!! :)

    Hello :)

    Thank you for your feedback.

Indeed, when .39 build will be released, you will have to revert the changes in that XML file or repair the product.

When the update will be released, the changelog will be posted here:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...iew=getlastpost
