Smsvchost.exe Stall Bdprovider.dll Related

A couple of weeks after installing bitdefender 2013 I started to notice that my windows server 2011 connector would not work.

I checked my event logs (attached) and realized that the net.tcp sharing service which is run by smsvchost.exe stalls with an error stating that the faulting module is bdprovider.dll.

any help please?

I am running Windows 7 x64 with .net framework 4.0

and BD 2013 I tried repairing bitdefender, no change

Would just like to update on the situation, Windows Home Server 2011 and the net.tcp sharing service are working.

I simply downgraded to BD 2012 and the problem was solved.

    Hello :)

I understand. We also released an update for Bitdefender 2013 that includes fixes for the Parental Control module.

If you want to reinstall Bitdefender 2013, just let me know.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Hi

I seem to be suffering a similar issue. I have downloaded a trial version of Total Security 2013 and since installation have seen the Windows Home Server Connector display an error on starting the computer.

Although the previous commentator "solved" the issue by downgrading to the 2012 version, I was wondering if the issue had been/will be resolved for the 2013 version.

    Thanks

  • Hello :)

A product update was released. Your build should be 16.20.0.1483(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

  • Hi

Just reinstalled the trial version of Bit Defender Total Security 2013 and no issue with Windows Home server 2011 connector software.

Bitdefender Total Security 2013 reporting as 16.16.0.1348

    Will see how it goes.

    Thanks

  • Hello.

We are experiencing the same situation at our office with SBS 2011 Essentials. The version number provided here is the same and yet, we have this ongoing issue for weeks. The only (temporal) solution is manually disabling the Bitdefender Parental Control Service and restart the machines, which, besides being very inconvenient, many of these machines are domain-joined and cannot bypass disabling the service.

We urgently need to correct this issue as soon as possible. Thank you.
