Toolbar Works But No Mail Is Sent To Spam Folder Automatically

I have Internet Security 2008, Outlook 2002, and Windows XP. I get the antispam toolbar in Outlook and I can use it to move spam to the spam folder but [spam] is not added to the subject. The wizard works for adding spammers and friends. The problem is that when I download my email nothing is ever moved to the spam folder. It worked for a day or two when I first installed. Support was not that helpful. I unistalled reinstalled several times. I have used BitDefender's uninstall program. I've tried searching thru the registry and deleting everything related to BitDefender and reinstalling. I ran Detect & Repair in Outlook. I re-installed Microsoft Office. I uninstalled Office and Bitdefender and reinstalled both. The anti-spam engine in BitDefender just won't process the email. I don't know what else to try <img class=" /> . Any suggestions?

Can you please do this double click on the red BitDefender icon afterwards press on settings when you are in the BitDefender Security Center. Click on antispam, settings, press now on default or check the options and close. It should be moved to deleted items by default. If it doesn't move it could be a language of outlook where the folder deleted items doesn't exists. You can bypass the problem by creating a rule for moving all mails that have [spam] in the subject will be moved to your spam subfolder. I already reported it.

  • I have the Deleted Items/spam folder. BitDefender created it. The IsSpam button on the toolbar will move things into it...but does not add [spam] to the subject.

When downloading mail nothing is marked with [spam]. It seems like the antispam engine is not running or the email is not passing through it.

Did you tried what I said? You have to enable that option when you are in BitDefender. Sometimes unchecking and pressing on ok (apply) and recheck the option will work.

You can't change that setting on the anti spam toolbar. There you can only mark mails as spam but not tag them as spam.

  • Yes I tried that. I just tried it again. It doesn't seem to have any affect at all.

I don't understand what you mean by mark as spam vs tag as spam.

As I understand it BDAntispam should add "[sPAM]" to the subject line of emails that it decides to be spam as they are downloaded. It should also move these emails to the deleted items/spam folder. This does not happen for me. No emails I download get "[sPAM]" added to their subject lines even though the are clearly spam and/or ###ually explicit. They also do not get moved to deleted items/spam.

The only thing I can do is manually select messages and push the IsSpam button on the tool bar. This will move them to deleted items/spam but will not add "[sPAM]" to the subjects.

I have also tried adding the BDO.DLL com object to Outlook as mentioned in some other threads in this forum. This didn't seem to have any affect either.

I just download my email and sorted through it manually. 61 of them were spam. BitDefender did not process any of these as spam. Something is broken. I have received 1257 pieces of spam over the last week or so with BitDefender not catching one of them. The emails are either not being passed through the antispam program or the program just plain does not work on my system for some reason. It did work for a short time when I first installed but has been broken for well over a month as I have tried various things to get it working again.

Try this when you are in outlook press on settings which is located on the BitDefender antispam toolbar wipe antispam database. When you have done that mark spam mails.

Block also domains when you add a spammer an e.g *@spam.la will block everything from that domain. Don't forget to save when you add spammers before pressing on apply and ok otherwise the spammers aren't added to the database. Don't forget that it's a learning filter that will get better after some time.

###ually explicit should be in the subject line before the mails are getting in your inbox that is obligated for spammers who send these kind of emails.

  • I finally got it working!

The problem was that I had set my mail account to use a secure SSL connection when downloading. Apparently BitDefender scans the email before it is decrypted. When I change my account setting to not use a secure connection everything works like it should. I guess I have to choose between a secure connection and automatic spam removal...

Good to hear that your problem is solved.

  • If I uncheck the option to move spam to the delete folder, what folder does Antispam use to put spam mail in? If the folder doesn't exit, will Antispam create the folder?

    Thanks
