What Happened

I have had Bitdefender for about a week...yesterday while on a web page my computer went off the internet to the desktop and a pop up appeared. It said your computer may be at risk etc...you should down load "longlifepc.com" etc etc.

I didn't down load of course, but was concerned that perhaps Bitdefender should have stopped this maleware. What do you all think? Is it malware?

This is some kind of malware but more specificly rogue software. Which means that they aren't trustfull. Never download software that is being showed in a pop-up. It could be just a pop-up. BitDefender will only react on installer and infections. But BitDefender will not detect everything that is the same thing by other antiviruses.

  • It takes just some javascript code to close your browser window and display a popup. That's not something BitDefender or any other antivirus can stop. For a better browser protection, you may want to start using Firefox, and also SpywareBlaster, which blocks malicious web contents.
