Metro Apps Not Working

Metro apps not working since update 16.20.0.1483


They just try and open and fail.

    Microsoft dropped the name "Metro" some time back due to some legalities, but regardless, that's a Windows 8 issue


    and not necessarily a BitDefender one.


    What I would suggest is to turn off BD (temporarily) and see if the Apps work.


    Keep in mind that Windows 8 is still in Release Candidate mode and not yet Final, meaning that it's still buggy, which you


    are experiencing.


    The Final for Win 8 will be available on October 26/12, depending on your location and hopefully, it "should" perform better.


    Try my suggestion, then come back here and let us know if that solves your problem. :D

    Yes they did drop the name Metro, but its just how people know it.


    Secondly Windows 8 is in Final release for Microsoft Partners, i have Windows 8 Pro Final release, cause im a partner.


    Ive turned off BD and it works with the desktop version of IE and still not the apps unless i completely uninstall Bitdefender, plus only been happening since the latest update for bitdefender.


    It is a Bitdefender issue, they are advertising its windows 8 compatible, and there support ######!

  • You must have got an advance release, then, being a partner.


    Two things you can do, then.


    1) completely uninstall Bitdefender using the uninstall tool. Reboot your system


    and re install Bitdefender and see if the problem has been fixed.


    2) Contact BD Tech support by e-mail or by phone, explain the problems you are


    experiencing and they should be able to provide a solution.


    I can't advise you any further than this, as I'm not a Windows 8 fan and plan on


    sticking with Win 7 for now.

    Thanks Christian, all working now after using the uninstall tool and reinstalling, but the funny thing is, if I have the firewall enabled, it makes only this forum site really slow to load pages. I turn off the firewall just to post this. lol

    Hello :)


    A product update was released. Your build should be 16.23.0.1637(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).


    In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).
