[solved] Canon Printer Still Will Not Print

I work for HP and hear about that problem all the time.
The problem is with your Canon printer Drivers which may be corrupt and not with Bitdefender.
I suggest that you completely uninstall your printer drivers, reboot your system and install the (updated)
drivers and see if your printer is functional!
Nine times out of ten, re installing the drivers resolves the issue!0 -
My printer Canon MX850 does not work. I uninstalled the printer driver, reinstalled it, updated it, but the problem is not fixed.

Hello
A product update was released. Your build should be 16.23.0.1637(please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).
In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Have a nice day.
I have exactly the same issues with a Canon MG5350.
Have followed all the config suggestions on the Firewall (Stealth Off) Adapter Rules (Allow Local Network IP addresses), re installed drivers etc.
If Bitdefender uninstalled all is OK. Once BDIS 2013 reinstalled the problem reoccurs.
My build is 16.25.0.1710 from UK website.
Can you help??
Thx, R0 -
Hello,
Does any of you still needs further assistance with the Canon printer?0 -
I have just received my new Thinkpad W530 and I gave a try to Total Security 2013 since my license is still valid.
Unfortunately what I wrote in my previous post http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=34845 still applies.
The only way for me to make my wifi printer work seems to be uninstalling bitdefender.0 -
Hello, I'm sorry to hear that the issue with your Canon printer persists.
Several customers reported this situation in this topic:

Therefore, I am merging your current topic with the above one and I will post a solution there.0 -
And here is the workaround for Canon printers that stop working after installing Bitdefender 2013:
1- Open Bitdefender -> Settings -> Update -> use the drop-down menu next to 'Update processing rules' and from the list choose the option 'Prompt before downloading'.
2- Restart the computer in Safe Mode.
3- In Safe Mode browse to: C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2013
- Locate file "bdtl.dll"and rename it into "bdt.dl_" (or choose any other name or simply the file "bdtl.dll");
- Restart Windows normally;
4- Once Bitdefender will try to update, make sure to select only the Virus Signature option and not the Product Update ones, as that will replace the file you renamed in Safe mode.
Check to see if the Canon printer can print now.0 -
Hello,
We have released an important update for the Bitdefender 2013 product and the Canon printer issue should be solved with this new build.
The Bitdefender build number is 16.29.0.1830 (please right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).
If the build number is not 16.29.0.1830, please follow these steps in order to undo the changes that were previously made:
- First of all restart the computer in Safe Mode.;
- Browse to: C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2013;
- Locate the file: 'update_components.xml';
- Right click on it and select 'Edit' or select 'Open with' and then 'Wordpad' from the list;
- Once the file is opened, look for the '<Product enabled="1"' string;
- Replace the '0' number with '1';
- Restart the computer in Normal mode and update Bitdefender;
Please let me know how is everything going with the Canon printer afterwards.
Thank you!0 -

It does print but only if I run the troubleshoot and restart the printer everytime after the reboot.
If I keep the printer on standby (as I always do and as it has always been working), I turn the PC on with BD installed then it tells me that it is offline. I click on troubleshoot turn the printer off and then back on and it works. Definitely an improvement even if it is not the perfect situation with the printer working no matter what.0
