Networked Printers And Firewall
Hello Everyone,
I recently DUMPED Norton Internet Security for BDIS 2008. While I am still learning its functionality I am having an issue with printing. Prior to the BD Firewall being installed, my other computers in the house wirelessly printed through my laptop to my OKI printer. After the installation of the BD firewall it will not allow the other PC's to print to my printer. The only way to get it to work is to disable the firewall. Does anyone know how to add the process, etc. to the firewall program to allow the remote wireless printing to be allowed?
Sony Vaio VGN-690 XP sp2
OkiData Color Laser C3200n
Network Magic V4
Bit Defender Internet Security 2008
Thanks!

Hi eyedahoman,
Try this: create a new rule in BD Firewall, for all applications, all IPs and port 138 (allow access for Inbound and Outbound). After you created it press on Edit Profile and move the new rule on top of both lists (Inbound and Outbound). This should work.

Hi Cris,
No luck. I followed what you had mentioned to do, and i did on both computers in the network. Any other ideas?
Thanks!
Scott
PS. As soon as I disable BD Firewall, all printing is fine.0 -
I had a similar issue with Network magic and solved the problem(after chatting with BD support)
Turning off steal mode works.
Settings > Firewall > Advanced > steal mode
