Any License Key Action Before Formatting Computer?

Hello,


I have Bitdefender Total Security 2013 license (3 computers). I activated for 2 computers and 1 license is waiting. I will format one of my computer which has activated Bitdefender license.


I looked at manual and saw page 41:


10.2. When should I reinstall Bitdefender?


In some situations, you may need to reinstall your Bitdefender product.


Typical situations when you would need to reinstall Bitdefender include the following:


● you have reinstalled the operating system


● you have purchased a new computer


● you want to change the display language of the Bitdefender interface


To reinstall Bitdefender you can use the installation disc you purchased or download


a new version from the Bitdefender website.


During the installation, you will be asked to register the product with your license


key.


If you cannot find your license key, you can log in to https://my.bitdefender.com to


retrieve it. Type the e-mail address and the password of your account in the


corresponding fields.


Now, my question is following: Should I take an action about license key before formatting computer? After format, when I activate it again with my activation number, does it count as one of 2 activated license or 1 unactivated license?

    Hi,


    As one of 2 activated license. You may use the third one for another PC.


    You shouldn't take any action about license.

    When installing Bitdefender, it "fingerprints" your PC, even after a re-format it will "recognize" that you're re-installing Bitdefender on the same computer, and will not consider it a new install, and thus will not use another license key upon install. You will still have your 3rd key left for another install on a different PC.
