Windows 8 Security

Hello,

The answer to my question is probably right under my nose, but I cannot seem to find any definitive answer. I apologize in advance if the answer is readily found. Does Windows 8 Security have these three modules included: Safebox, Anti-Theft, or Encryption? Windows 8 Security is not included in the comparison charts I found on the website (which would make it a lot easier to compare and see the features of W8S) so if anyone can give me a definitive answer to this, it will be much appreciated...

  • Hi puff-m-d, and welcome :)

Since the BD 8 version is the only version in that line of product for now, it has nothing to compare too, but that it has all the same features as the 2013 Security Suite. This thread, will help to explain, as with the comparison link in post# 5.

So no, there is no File Encryption, in BD 8 but does have Antispam, Safepay, ID Theft Protection, and Safgo'

Hope this helped sort things out :)

  • Hi columbo,

Thanks for the reply, it helped clarify things a lot for me. So I assume that the links in MyBitdefender for me to download and activate Safebox and Anti-Theft should just be ignored as they do not apply to Windows 8 Security? Thanks again for your help...

    You're welcome :)

Yes, that is correct, as they are a part of the 2013 Total Security version, which is also compatible with Windows 8.

    Hi columbo,

    Thanks...

That was the really confusing part as MyBitdefender recognized I am using Windows 8 Security but lists those options which do not apply to me (Safebox and Anti-Theft). To me, these items showing in MyBitdefender confused me the most. I think since MyBitdefender knows I have Windows 8 Security, then Safebox and Anti-Theft should not be in my control panel. At least now I understand and thank you for helping me.

Yes, I think it is easier to have that web page cover all the bases, rather than someone who has AV+ and Total Security somehow link to the different MYbitdefender options for each version...it could be a web page, coding nightmare? Rather than just activating them as needed. Yes, it can be a little confusing, but you caught on quick ^_^

  • Since I am a member here, and try to keep up with Bitdefender and it's versions, I am now (finally :) ) realizing someone new to the Bitdefender Windows 8 Security, may not know all the features it includes, compared to the "standard" 2013 versions.

Even though there is only 1 product of Bitdefender Windows 8 Security, and thus not another "8" version to compare it to, they should describe it better for what components/features it has, like is seen on the 2013 versions Comparison web page: http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/antiv...comparison.html

To hopefully draw a little more attention to the Bitdefender team, I will start a thread in Feature Request, for them to give better details on their Bitdefender 8 web page.

  • I could not understand why they put there efforts for launching separate security suite that is only for Windows 8 rather than to put efforts in enhancing and removing the bugs in the 2013 product line......no logic for introducing new product.....

Actually, there is are very logical reasons for introducing this new product, if you read the Windows 8-specific features by going to http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/windows-8-security.html .

Those Win 8 specific features do not seem to enhance security over using the regular Bitdefender AV 2013 which is Win 8 compatible.

/agree. Absolutely agree. When we have $indows 9 in the future maybe then. But all ANTIVIR programs have its core from since the computer was built. When was it? Long ago. The microcode of the virus is only essential. May it be Linux,Windows,MacOS - only the microcode. And not any windows. A marketing gag.
