I took a look at the link. Looks like this crap has been going on for a while. Here's what I posed on another leg of this forum, for someone with the same problem:

Hate to see anybody else have to deal with this chea.p practice. It's not what I would have expected from Bitdefender! Whatever you do, do NOT accept an online offer to extend your service. If you do, they will likely charge you again and you may end up paying double/simultaneously, for TWO separate licenses. That's what happened to me. When I saw the double-charge, I started the process of trying to get it corrected right away. It's been over two weeks, and only in the last couple of days did anybody start to respond, and that was because I went to one of their biggest promoters: PC-Magazine, and complained to them. PCMag jumped on it and I got emails right way from BD, referencing my complaints to PCMag.

You will likely have to go to the Avangate website, create an account (you will need to have your original Order #), and turn off the Auto-Renew feature. If you want a refund (WHICH YOU DESERVE IN MY OPINION), you will need to call them overseas, and (hope you have a lot of patience) try your best to communicate with them that you want a refund. In my case, they instructed me to then call BD's overseas people to ask for a refund approval. They will get all confused, and you will have to explain again and again that you do NOT want the service extended! If you are lucky you will eventually receive an email from BD (in about two week) telling you that a refund will be made within "7 working days".

If all that does not work, send emails to the staff at PCMagazine - they are huge promoters of BD, so they should share in the annoyance as well! Btw - here are some links I copied from the emails I eventually got - Good Luck:

  • And just when I thought "somu" was just a regular user...

The clear and obvious pattern rears it's head.

Tell you what folks - if you get hit with a bogus charge from ANY company and you cannot immediately speak to the authority to IMMEDIATELY have the transaction redacted, file a chargeback with your bank.

If if enough people do that, this nonsense will stop.

Using Bitdefender Total Security. Paying BD customer since 2012

I am not a regular user of this forum and bitdefander. Though i used it in 2009-2010 3 years ago. But after i brought their product bit defander 2013 total protection yesterday i go through the forum and joined.

I also was worry about auto renewal. As maximum antivirus company has it . Even Symantec Norton, You have to log in Norton account after purchasing and stop auto renewal otherwise your credit card will be charged. So here i searched and got the reply and went to advantage and create account with my purchasing email and there is the option to disable auto renewal. I disabled it and got confirmation from Advantage.

  • Quick question, will users be able to get a refund from this? And are there plans to correct this perhaps in the future versions? smile2.png
