Problems With Vista And Bd Total Internet Security 2008

Hi all,

We have Bit Defender Total Internet Security 2008 running on three PC's in a small home network. Bit Defender is running fine on our desktop (running Vista Ultimate) and fine on our 2nd laptop (XP). The 1st laptop (running Vista Home Premium) is having issues.

The firewall, stealth mode and various other features are disabled, we can't fix them by clicking on the various problems in the security centre as this does nothing. We have tried running it before and after an update to no avail, we have tried running them in config.sys to no avail, I have re-installed it countless times, I have tried selecting a public network and a private network on initial start up and again it works for a few minutes and then the problem occurs.

This is what we see after a few minutes of installation:

We can't click on the fix buttons, nothing happens. We have firewalls on all PC's (apart from the laptop) and a router firewall, regardless we would like to have the same features on the laptop without it having issues. If it happens on the other PC's I will let you know.

We had issues with the old V10 and we thought this would be better so hope we can sort out the problem before we jump ship which would be a shame after 2 years with you.

Best Regards,

Toby

    Anyone?

  • Hello Toby,

Could you check the BitDefender services, to see if they are running? In Windows Vista, the list of services can be seen in TaskManager. If any of the 4 BitDefender is stopped, please start it and see if the issues get fixed.

Also, when you reinstalled BitDefender, did you use the specific BD Uninstall Tool? If not, try to make another reinstall (use the Uninstaller first) and see if the problems get fixed. Also, before re-installing it, try to disable Vista's User Account Control (and install BitDefender with UAC disabled). There were some cases when UAC prevented BD to install correctly.

    Cris.
