The Worst Support Ever! Bitdefender 2008 Is Junk.

After my client's Bitdefender v10 expired he decided to upgrade to v2008. What a huge mistake. (Client PC, Win 2K SP4)

First I uninstalled v10, no big deal. I install v2008, restart the pc and endless errors appear. The drivers for the two network boards installed would no longer load. In the device manager both boards had the yellow circle with the exclamation point.

So, I uninstall v2008, no big deal. WRONG! After uninstalling the software the drivers for the two network boards still would not load.

I call Support, the first thing they have me do is download an Uninstall program that supposedly cleans up the mess they left behind. Why couldn't they get it right the first time? I write software, I know every file, registry setting and other settings I made so I can put it back the way it was before the install. It's not hard, it's just paying attention.

I run the uninstall program. NO, drivers still will not load. All they could do is suggest the most basic steps that even a novice would have thought of themselves. I've been in the computer industry for over twenty years and have never encountered such useless support. I've had clueless people from India that were at least willing to help or escalate to a higher tier of support.

After suggesting everything I've already tried, instead of trying to figure it out, they said it was Microsoft's problem.

They wiped their hands clean and have refused to contacted me again.

A pc that was running fine for years that suddenly no longer functions properly after installing their software and it's Microsoft's problem?

Huh?

I really didn't want to reinstall Windows, so after several hours of losing my mind, I was able to fix it.

Thanks for nothing, Bitdefender.

    Hello Bitdefender Evangleists;;

In another thread on this forum, I commented that Bit Defender seemed to be a very poor product.. You were quick to try shift the blame to other products, in particular to MS VISTA.. MS has done this over the years as well, so I guess they deserve some back.. But this is not the answer for either Bit Defender or MS.. The answer is a product that works as advertised, and technical support, on the hopefully odd occasion, when it does not..

Now what about the person above , who is a programmer with apparently almost as much experiance as you all combined, what did he do wrong.. As i said before," I am NOT a programmer" I do not have the knowledge or skills to correct the potential problems that this product can cause..

Why does Bit Defender Technical support not back up their product?? Why do they leave it up to you " Evangelists " to do the dirty work, and try to convince people that this is a good product.. I think they have left you "Hung out to Dry'..

It appears as if they don'y even support the "Evangelist" very much..

  • Ok here is my other double post.. Again I apologize..

But I see that you didn't find it, or I'm sure I would have heard about it..

But I suspect the reason you didn't find it is because you never bothered to read or to reply to the original post\thread..

If this forum works as most forums do, this thread should now be on top of the list.. Where you can't miss it..

  • @Poverteee: I read this post, and I knew what you were talking about when you said I think this is a double post.

Why I didn't reply? Maybe I just didn't have time. When I'm pressured by time, I focus my attention on posts that really need attention. The above post is, obviously, not included in the high priority posts (at least, not on what concerns me).

And I'd really appreciate if you'll stop posting these things on multiple threads. One thread is enough.

And by these things I mean things that don't have other purpose other than sarcasm.

    Cris.
