Server Not Found

Does this apply on all sites? Probably just a browser issue, try connecting with chrome too. Also, verify internet connectivity buy running "ping google.com" at command prompt.

Hello JC23,
Make sure to have the recommended settings for Bitdefender Firewall, as explained in this pinned topic:
http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=35496
Also, please post the link you are trying to access if the connectivity issue still persists.
Thank you.0 -

Thank you.
I came here to post about this as well. It happens just intermittently with no rhyme or reason to when or the site. It occurs probably once every 15 minutes or so of browsing. I'll just click a link or type in an address and it'll wait for a few seconds then say the server isn't found...a refresh brings it up immediately.
I previously tested BD2013 products and saw this identical issue...so I uninstalled and went back to Kaspersky. With Kaspersky Internet Security, this never ever happened unless the server was actually down. With BD Windows 8 Security...it's a regular occurrence.
My firewall is setup according to the recommended settings and the windows firewall is turned off. It's not a browser issue. If so, I would have seen this with Kaspersky. This is my second time giving BD a try and the identical problem has immediately returned. " />
Below is the log file you guys always request.0 -
Hi Stangs55,
I checked the report, thank you for posting it. You mention having the recommended settings for the Bitdefender firewall, but the logs show the opposite.
Please let me know what happens after making these changes and rebooting your Windows 8 PC:
1. Open Bitdefender, go to Firewall panel and make sure it is turned on
- click on "Manage adapters", locate the adapter and set:
* Network type to Home/Office
* Stealth mode to Off or Remote
* Generic to YES and click Close.
2. Click on Settings
- go to Firewall module and click on the Advanced tab
- turn ON "Internet Connection Sharing" and turn OFF "Block port scans"
3. Click on the Settings tab
- click on Application rules -> Add rule
- Browse to the .exe of your web browser and click on "Open"
- Select both "Local Address" and "Remote Address" boxes
- At "Network type" select "Trusted"
- Events > select all the boxes (Listen, Traffic, Connect)
- Protocol: Any
- Direction: Both
- IP version: Any
Click on OK and close the Rules window.
Reboot the PC then recheck the http traffic.
Let me know how it goes, thanks!0 -

Thank you for the detailed reply. I've made the above changes but have not yet had 10 free minutes to browse the web and see if it's fixed. A couple of issues I would love a reply to, however...
1. You say that my log says I didn't have the above "recommended" settings. Well in the above post where you link to the recommended settings, this only includes changes made in #1. If your log is showing that I did NOT have these changes already made, then (with all due respect) the program you use to create the log is broken. I had absolutely made these changes (several reboots prior) and I confirmed that they were exactly as above after you post. Not sure why the log would tell you different...but sounds like a problem.
2. Why do I need to enable Internet Connection Sharing? I don't share my connection...
3. Most importantly...why do I have to come to a forum to find the "recommended settings" for my firewall? Should the recommended settings be the default settings? I am sincerely curious about this...
Regardless...all the above changes made (#2 was set as the opposite by default), I'll report back. But I'd love a response to the above 3 questions.0 -

Did everything as above...
Didn't work. Issue still exists. I can reproduce very consistently....give me about 3 minutes of clicking on new domains and it happens. Since it sounds like something was wrong with the last log I uploaded (you said I didn't have the recommended settings when I did)...I recreated the issue then immediately re-ran the support tool. I'm not sure if you can check the last site I accessed...but that should be an example of the instance. Upload below. Also...if this shows I don't have the recommended settings, then the support tool has a bug.
What do I do next?0 -
