Phantom Backup Running - Help Me Stop It!
I had BD Total Security 2008 installed (demo version) and several backups scheduled and running succesfully. I then uninstalled the whole suite using the BD uninstall tool from technical support. This appeared to remove the program coimpletely from my system, including registry entries. I then reinstalled a more up to date version of the software to try to get around some bugs I had been having.
the software worked fine, but before I had the chance to sort out any backups, I noticed taht the backup maanger was running automatically at the times when my previous backups were scheduled, even though there were no backup jobs listed in the backup job manager. The logs reported that BD backup had started successfully at the appropriate times, so I knew it was definitely happening and I saw the backup settings dialogue box appear for a moment and disappear at those times.
It seems there is a registry entry left behind from my previous install of the program. My question is, can I delete it so that I have a clean install of the software and can re-schedule my backups? I am reluctant to schedule any new backups with the old phantom backups trying to run without any job details visible to the BD backup manager...... where are these registry entries?
Thanks
Moray

Hello Moray,
BitDefender Backup uses Windows' built-in TaskScheduler to schedule the backup jobs.
From what you are saying, it seems that the Uninstall Tool wasn't made to remove those settings. I will report this.
You can remove the schedules from: Start -> Control Panel -> Scheduled Tasks (the tasks related to BD Backup have the BitDefender icon). Just select those entries and delete them.

Hi Cris
Many thanks for your quick reply. You were right! These scheduled backups WERE still in the Windows Task Scheduler. I have simply deleted them and now I can add new backups in BD. I have learned something new!
Thank you!
