Bsod Caused By Bitdefender 2013?

Options

In the past 24-48 hours I have received about 3 BSOD crashes. I posted on a tech forum and an "expert" reported that it could be bitdefender 2013 that caused these crashes.

From poster:

Recommendations: Crashes appear to be caused by BitDefender. Remove BitDefender and replace it instead with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability.

Is it bitdefender?

    Hello shywolf91,

Could you please tell me if this issue persists with the new build version 16.28.0.1763?

(right click on Bitdefender icon from system tray-near the clock-and choose "About". You should see in the left side the build number).

In order for the product update to be installed, you need to reboot your machine(you should see in the Events -> "Reboot required" under the Update module).

Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Today I experience a BSOD. I contact some people I know who know to analyze BSOD and other computer problems and they say the BSOD was caused by bitdefender and that I should uninstall it.

    Could bitdefender cause the BSOD?

My OS is windows 7 64-bit.

    Hi, shywolf91 :)

I see you started a new thread here with a newer BSOD issue, but since Georgia started helping you here, lets use this thread. (hopefully I'm not overstepping my bounds, Georgia ^_^ )

Do you have any other security solutions running along side of Bitdefender? Is Windows Defender off? Are you running any type of system tune up utilitie, Winpatrol etc? Which version of Bitdefender are you running, the AV+, Internet Security, Total Security, and with the last two, are you just using the incorporated BD firewall. I see you are running Windows 7, 64-bit.

To answer as many of these questions, can hopefully help us to resolve this for you.

    Kind regards,

    Scott

Version: TS 13 (recently bought Bit defender Sphere). Along with TS I have spybot S&D 1.6.2 install. I am certain my windows firewall is off and TS's filewall is on.

    Hello shywolf91,

Before going any further with the investigation please remove all the other security solutions you might have besides Bitdefender. Microsoft official position about using multiple security solutions installed at the same time is available here:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...pyware-programs

A list of common removal tools is available here:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/support/removal...tware-1107.html

If you can't find the tool for a specific security solution in our official article, you might want to check the additional list available in this pinned topic:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=36510

After uninstalling all other antivirus/tune-up programs, restart Windows and check if the BSOD still occurs. Looking forward to your reply!

    Hi Shywolf91,

I am running BitDefender Total Security 2013 and I am having the same BSoD problem on my PC with almost the same failure reported in my dump: BUCKET_ID: X64_RAISED_IRQL_FAULT_vsserv.exe_nt!KiSystemServiceExit+245.

Did you ever find a solution for your BSoDs? Could you update the thread with what the underlying problem and answer was? Thank you very much in advance!
