Safepay And Wallet
OK, this may be a bit embarrasing...
The Wallet program won't fill in automatically the necessary credentials to log in to a bank when in Safepay. The boxes stay empty, and I have to type in both login and password manually.
In fact Wallet does not seem to be able to automatically fill in any kind of information from the 'online banking' tab, only that from the 'websites' - but in Safepay the latter does not work either.
Is there a way to somehow configure these two facets so that logging into my bank will not be too much of a hassle?

Well, the automatic part integration is not present in Safepay.
There were some heated discussion if Wallet should fill automatic or to be just for manual use (for security reasons mainly), and it is planned to be done just as for the other browsers as well. Thing is it will take a little longer, since Safepay, as you may now, have no extensions at all (while Wallet have for other browsers, this is how it works in Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome), so it will be implemented directly inside browser.
I cannot estimate a date when this will be done (we're near GM release and we have other critical features to release), but rest assured we will do it.
Most likely will be an update containing the better integration with Wallet.

Many thanks for your reply!
I'll stay tuned for further updates then...0 -

Well, thanks for informing us AFTER the fact. Why is this (non) feature advertised as an auto fill available now?
Very disappointed and misleading.

If you check the product page (http://www.bitdefender.com/solutions/safepay.html), it does not advertise Wallet.
Wallet is part of Classic Line products (Internet Security, Total Security) and not (yet) part of Safepay standalone.
Although the user interface looks the same, there are vast differences on how Safepay integrates - standalone version does not integrates in HTTP traffic to display alerts, uses internal routing, its own service, scans at startup (Classic line does not) and more.
While I understand your disappointment, I think you read the main line product advertising and not Safepay's, hence the confusion.

Personally, I prefer that Wallet not fill in the blanks for my bank, etc. If in Safepay I am glad that Wallet does not fill in the passwords.

That's a pretty lame excuse. So we're supposed to read the fine print on a web page instead of having the product behave as any normal user would expect it to? Since Wallet is accessible within Safepay, most of us stupid users probably think you can use it within Safepay. What's the point of storing a password here? You can't even toggle it on long enough to copy and paste. My Solution: turn Wallet OFF and wish I'd thought a bit longer before choosing Bitdefender over Kaspersky...0 -

Exactly--you are 100% correct. I am running a trial of Total Security as I write this, and the first time I used Wallet was within Safepay. When I started setting up Wallet from within Safepay, I noticed things like:
* Each time you enter the master password, it says "Your password is required to ... allow Wallet to autofill your credentials."
* On the Websites tab, Wallet says "Browse faster online while using the Wallet. It automatically fills your logins online while keeping them completely secured."
Again, it says this while using Wallet within Safepay. Blaming users for thinking the product does what it clearly says it does is not appropriate.
I actually found this thread because I searched to find out why Wallet's autofill feature wasn't working in Safepay!0 -
I too would like to know what's happening with passwords within SafePay, it's a very useful feature to say the least. If you don't allow it then BD should at least allow a very small number of reputable addons such as Lastpass.

The Wallet is built-into Safepay, but will not auto-fill websites. Instead, I have to enter my user name and use the virtual keyboard, which is a pain in the rear. Worse, the Wallet prompts me to enter the password every 5 minutes. I spent half an hour trying to justify constantly entering the password into Wallet, thinking that it will relieve me from using the virtual keyboard. Then I came across this topic and realized I wasted my time.
It is preposterous to think that they could offer a plugin for IE, yet cannot do the same for their own browser.
The Wallet has issue too. Once you are in the Wallet, the passwords are in clear text. It also saves login and passwords without prompting me.
Bitdefender is feature packed, and technically advanced, but their technies should leave the User Interface design to experts.0 -
The implementation of fully integration of Wallet in Safepay standalone has been started (autofill, load/save etc.).
Once it will fully integrated in standalone, I think it will get ported in BD as well. Not sure, though, if also in 2014, or only in the upcoming 2015 version.
Will get back when I know more.

I know that marketing people like to package improvements into just one release, but use of an AV is an ongoing thing and we need improvements available to the user as soon as they are available instead of waiting until marketing say so. Otherwise alternative solutions such as Avast and Comodo who have a similar Safepay feature look increasingly tempting. Please pass this on, thanks !0 -

I fully understand what do you mean. Every user wants its thing working, and that's normal.
The Wallet integration is, as I said previously, currently under development.
2015 alpha is coming in March; we're working on Wallet integration as I said; marketing is pushing their thing, as you already pointed out .
Additionally, we're integrating with other browsers; I am porting Safepay to multiprocess (which is bloody, but will boost the stability since the current implementation is single process and any crash will bring the house down).
That's the main reason of this delay - overlapping with the entire desktop team (re)working the next version. Wallet was massively re-engineered to be client-server, and that delayed us with integration.
I don't want this to sound as an excuse - just a feedback about the progress.
I understand there are other solutions out there; I hope you will give us some room to accommodate all these things we're juggling with and wait for the next stable release including what you asked. (Be sure we're in constant battle with marketing...)

I'm a little late coming into this discussion, but can I ask where we are now with the issues raised in this thread? I purchased BD Internet Security this year and have yet to activate Wallet (though I am constantly being prompted to) chiefly because of the complaints about how it actually functions. I don't know whether using it now will be more a hindrance or a help.0

I gave up wondering and waiting. Due in part to some other issues I was experiencing with browsing slowdowns I have now reverted to Webroot Secure Anywhere on my main PC although still using BD on several other PCs in the house. The difference with WR is amazing, no browsing impact, innovative protection mechanisms, and yes, it has an equivalent of Wallet which is based on the LastPass tool. Another plus of Webroot that I have experienced is the rapid and helpful support team, unlike BD, Avast and many others. Hope BD step up a gear and sort these problems out quickly.0 -
We are now using version 2015.
Still no auto fillin in safepay.
Is this coming or not??
Probably I will look at Webroot too.

Well I am now using 2020 and it seems that Wallet is STILL off in Safepay. I don't understand why I turn it on in Firefox and it is always off in Safepay. I had issues with Safepay in the past and never used it until now. I thought I should go ahead and use the product; however, I am disappointed that in the past 6 years this has been an issue. I click on the Wallet Icon in Safepay and it says "Bitdefender Wallet is Off" and does not give me any option to turn it on. I am not one who can remember every password so this is why I have been happy with the Wallet, until I found that it does not work in Safepay. I then have to go to the Bitdefender Control Panel and open the Wallet so I can look up the user name and password for each site. Very, Very disappointing.0
