Paranoid Mode Marks Explorer.exe As Potentially Mallicious

L.S.,

I am a new user of Bitdefender. I installed Bitdefender on my GF's computer after I cleaned up her infected PC.

I turned on the paranoid mode to see if i had missed anything.

In Paranoid mode after a reboot I would not get a desktop. After manually launching desktop from taskmanager i found in the bitdefender logs that explorer.exe and logonui.exe had been blocked and marked as "potentially malicious"

If I turn of paranoid mode. Windows will boot normally.

My question:

Is bitdefender paranoid or do I have infected explorer.exe and logonui.exe?

If so, how would I go about solving this (short of a complete reinstall of windows XP)

  • Hello Juritja,

    Welcome to the Bitdefender forums.

Most probably you didn't allow the process to connect to the internet and now everything that is injected in explorer.exe is blocked.

Please run a System Scan with Bitdefender and send us the resulting scan report. You can find all the steps to do that in our article:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/support/how-to-...n-log-1182.html

We will also need a BDSYS log:

    http://www.bitdefender.com/support/the-sys...fected-490.html

We will analyze the information you sent and then reply with a possible solution in the shortest time.

    Thank you!

My system : Windows XP SP3 - BitDefender Internet Security 2014 - Paranoid Mode

And more, since the installation at the end of December, I had also many blue screen starts.

    I have a fresh BDSYS.log and try to upload it. (bdsyslog.zip 184ko)

I get this message : Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload this type of file.

    Please help!
