Here is the log from a recent scan:

An On Demand scan has completed.

The scan took: 00:35:57

Files scanned: 378824

Infected items detected: 114

Files known to be clean: 57

How should I understand the contradiction between 114 infected items detected and "No infected items have been found."

In my opinion, this is the main prevalent annoyance in Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition. From previous discussions I understand the reason for this is scanning compressed encrypted files (having many files within a file; usually installation files). I believe the problem will always be accompanied by the message:

"The following files could not be scanned due to insufficient privileges."

So, perhaps it has to do with the way Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition keeps track on the number of scanned files versus ignored files. If redo the scan you may be surprised to see the numbers change. What is important, and comforting, is on every scan to see:

"No infected items have been found."

    Don't worry, be happy!
