    Hello,

A support tool log will be helpful:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...st&p=195602

If the file is too big to attach, upload it on

    http://www.sendspace.com or http://www.mediafire.com

    and post the download link.

If you were already asked to generate these logs, disregard the above message and just post the ticket ID.

    Thank you.

  • I have reproduced the issue (started Origin and Steam with Bitdefender firewal turned on). Network activity monitor showed around 250 packets were droped and 0.0 B "In" for steam.exe and origin.exe.

After this i've used Bitdefender Support Tool and i think it gathered and sent technical data of this issue.

I managed to get origin.exe and steam.exe work properly with BitDefender Firewall turned on. All i had to do is to uncheck "Trusted" and "Home/Office" network types in this application rules. I did the same for every whitelisted app rule and now everything seems fine.

This has also worked for me. Thanks.

  • can you tell me which networktype you left checked? I have to choose at least one!

Oh, let me say, in other words, you need to disable allowing rules for certain networks to get your applications work? Bitdefender logic, i love it.

  • Hello

    I have the same issue.

Steam and Origin can't login until i turn firewall off.

i tried the solution proposed here

to uncheck connection type "trusted" and "home/office" , but no way.

I tried all possible combination but it works only when I switch off the firewall.

the link for BDSP file is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6109246...02_23_03_06.zip

during the creation of file I have switched off and on firewall while surfing on steam to show how with forewall off

the connection to steam was working, with firewall on the connection was lost immediately also remaining on same page.

I hope you can help me.

    Many thanks

I am having the same issue as ^.

When my firewall is off, my steam works no problem (browsing, downloading)

When my firewall is enabled, my steam doesn't work (can't browse, can't download/update)

Everything is allowed under the application rules of steam.exe. I have reset my rules, unchecked a few combinations of Trusted/HomeOffice, etc. Steam simply doesn't connect to internet.

Only way I can use Steam is to disable firewall and it works like a charm. Instant-response mind you.

I have also included the Steam Folder under exclusion as a last resort, but nothing changed.

    Would appreciate any ideas!

  • I think I have solved this for my setup by adding my router as a trusted zone under Adapter Rules -> Local Area Connection. The hint came from MOGIVITE's post in http://forum.bitdefender.com/lofiversion/i....php/t4709.html

Follow these steps in Firewall Settings:

    1. Press "manage adapters", in network type select "trusted".

    2. Add to Application rules: steam.exe AND gameoverlayui.exe, with all permissions.

    3. If still don't work disable "Instrusion Detection System" under "Advanced" options.

    That worked for me.

I am having the same issue reported in this thread. Steam does not start up with the Bitdefender firewall enabled. It is a relatively new issue (past 1-2 weeks).

Disabling firewall, then starting up Steam allows it to open. However, re-enabling firewall after Steam is open causes additional issues: Steam VAC cannot be acknowledged and Steam thinks it is offline.

I do have steam.exe set to trigger "game mode".

I have generated a BDSP log: BDSP - Steam Issue

I'm not sure why opening those ports would matter. Everything was working just fine until a couple weeks ago. Something changed with either Bitdefender or Steam. Are those new Steam port assignments?

Same problem. If I turn off the BD firewall I can start Steam just fine, otherwise I get an error: "Steam is having trouble connecting to the Steam servers." This is with Windows 8.1. My computer with Windows 7, Steam and BD works fine.

I've tried this about a billion times with tons of different BD configurations. I was able to eliminate any type of error message from the firewall log but I still can't connect.

Here is a link to a BDSP file.
