Some Clarification, Please., Home/office, Trusted, Public

Hello,

I would like to know what these terms mean in Firewall settings: Home/Office, Trusted and Public. I have a wifi router, what are the best firewall settings for it? Is it Public or Home/Office?

I would be glad to hear from you. Thank you.

    Hello Joshua7,

    Thank you for your post.

You can find the answer in the Bitdefender product installed on your PC and also in the user-guide, available for download here:

I am enclosing the specific information in the attached image.

For a home network, we recommend choosing "Home/Office" as network type, "Stealth Mode" select Off and "Generic"- On.

Let us know if you have other questions!

  • hello

ok so under firewall there is a tab called adapters and i want to know what to set them to weather to enable or disable or allow or deny

    which ones.

ok so this is my situation, i am a gamer i play a lot of internet games like diablo 3 and so on so i am updating and downloading quite a bit of content for them weather it be updates or just expansions, i use a wireless router which 2 other laptops connect to also (family members)

so basically i just want to know what to set everything to for the MOST protection, i am a pretty paranoid person in general and don't want anything or anyone accessing my laptop that doesnt need to,

please help and explain what does what and why i should use certain settings

    thank you

  • Ultimately, you just need to have game mode on and BD I think does have a default setting in firewall to still protect you against threats. 1.gif

    Georgia,

I had the same question as Joshua7. Thanks for the user guide. Just as a FYI, though, the "help" within the Bitdefender Internet Security 2015 does not contain all the info as the user guide. There is nothing in the product help that explains connection types. They might want to update that because until I found this forum I was kind of upset that the help section was so bad.

    Thanks though!!

  • When I ran BDIS I used trusted because I am behind a router with hardware firewall on that I have tested and am satisfied it was secure enough.
