Recycle Bin full of quarantined files - Cannot Empty
I cannot empty my recycle bin because it has approx. 60 files that have been quarantined because of WIN32.mydoom virus. When I try to empty recycle bin, I get "Cannot Delete File (whatever) - Cannot Read From the Source File or Disk"
What do I do to empty the Recycle Bin of these files and was it something I did to get them deposited in there in the first place? Help!

One thing is for sure BitDefender doesn't put's your infected files in your Recycle Bin. Maybe BitDefender found an infected file in your recycle bin and you can't empty the bin until you remove all your infected files from quarantine.
So you should try that: first remove all your files from quarantine and after that try to empty the bin.0 -

It is very well possible that there are 1 or 2 files that have been deleted already.
Open recycle bin, click each file one by one and hit 'delete'. You will come to the files that are 'gone' already and can't delete them, forget about it for now. Close recycle bin, it could be empty by then, if it isn't then you will have to run a registry cleaner or manually delete the registry keys. That's sort of a dangerous hobby so do it only if absolutely necessary. Re-boot first and see if there are still files in the bin that you can't delete.
I also suspect that you still have a virus or traces of it on your machine as BD doesn't put files into the bin. You're not in a very nice position here as you should (must, must) backup your important data b4 doing anything to the registry but then you might backup the virus as well.
Feel free to jump at me, just trying to help.0 -
You can not empty your recycle bin because of BD real time protection. disable real time protection, empty your recycle and after that enable real time protection.

Hi cagal
I suggest that you scan your hard disc for errors. To do that go to start, run,at the run dialog box type cmd press enter. Then type the follow command : chkdsk c: /f /r (you have to change c: with letter of you hard disc or partition where windows is installed on) press enter. Now reboot your pc. It can take a while but errors will be fixed. Or trying to empty your recycle bin in safe mode by rebooting your pc and pressing several times on the f8 button before the windows load screen. Choose safe mode.

That would mean that you had a virus or parts of it in the bin where it shouldn't be in the first place. As soon as you 'touch' the file(s) RTP rightfully kicks in. The problem with your method is that M$ doesn't really clean nor purge anything but rather throws it on the empty space of your disc. If by any chance it lands on the right clusters your problems might not be over just yet.I suggest that you scan your hard disc for errors. Could be but seems a bit far-fetched considered that there are errors on any given drive at any given time. Still better to try this first b4 going into the reg.0 -
Hi husky
I will not recommend to just delete some registry keys. Even when you use a registry tool. Some registry tools falsely mark registry entries that are used for the antispam toolbar as invalid.
You can serious harm your pc. In most cases when you receive a message like that is mostly due errors on the hard disc.

I didn't suggest the use of a registry tool. You can serious harm your pc.
Sir
this exactly might have been the reason why I didn't go into detail. In most cases when you receive a message like that is mostly due errors on the hard disc.

I doubt it unless your HDD is 20 years old with 50% bad clusters. However, it is still worth a try.0 -
Hi husky

I just wanted to clarify that working in the registry isn't without risks. So I want to warn the topicstarter it wasn't mean for you personally.
Even not so old hd could have errors. The main reason as I said before are bad clusters on the hard disc.
