This is not just a single "virus" but something that refers to a lot of malware that all redirect your browser for, presumably, money or hits. I suggest that you give the new Bitdefender Adware Remover a try, it is free and although still in Beta should work well.

Additionally you can go to manage Add ons page and manually uninstall unnecessary entries there. You can also make sure that your default search provider is something that you know or trusted.
