Help With Website Issue
I am using BDIS v.10 build 247...
For the last couple weeks, I have not been able to view a website (blog) on my home computer which has BDIS running. I've had no problems viewing it before, and it is in my bookmarks. But now for some reason, I'm not able to view it from either Firefox (2.0.0.12) or Internet Explorer 7 (latest). I can, however, view the site just fine from my office computer, so I know it is not the site itself. When I go to the site (either via bookmark or by typing manually in address bar) I get the following page...
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /mt/ on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apache/1.3.39 Server at www.synthstuff.com Port 80
the URL for the blog is www.synthstuff.com/mt/
I don't know what has changed, but my ISP says it is probably something in the firewall. I have the site added to my browser's Trusted Sites list, so I don't think it is the browser. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry for the double post...couldn't find a way to edit it.
Wanted to add that I just checked on my laptop (connected to same DSL gateway) and was unable to view the site. I had a friend in another location go to the website, and she was able to view the blog. Oh, my laptop is running BD AV 2008, but am using Sygate firewall.0 -
Hello Fallstar,
The problem is on the site's side. My guess is that a series of IPs are banned from accessing that site. The reason? Only the site admin/owner can say that.
I'm using BTS and I can't access the site. But I also asked 3 other people to check it. All 3 are non-BD users, and they are from different countries (Romania, Germany and Russia), and they all got the same Forbidden error.
However, the site can be accessed correctly using an anonymous proxy server (www.youhide.com).
So I can say for sure that BitDefender has nothing to do with this.
You should send an e-mail to the site's admin to ask why you can't access it.

Thanks for the reply Chris...that is really interesting! I had a feeling it had to do with being blocked, and I have no idea why it's being done. I only go there to read, and have commented twice in the past, nothing bad for sure. I did send an email to the owner (over a week ago), but not positive it was the proper address. I have not heard back from that person. This is very disturbing indeed.

Who knows? Maybe that person wants his/her blog to be read only by people from a certain region. Someone I know made a test... he tried multiple proxies around the world. It seems that proxies outside US can't access the site, but proxies from US can.
Considering that you are (probably) from US (I took the liberty of looking at your IP), I can only think that US is also, partly, banned from that site. And I guess that your office has an IP from within the allowed IP range, and that's why you can access it from there.
I'll try to contact the person, and see if I get any reply. If I don't, the solution for you is: just visit the site from your office.
You could also try to use a proxy and access the site from home...

The blog site is in/from the state of Washington, and I am in Oregon...next door neighbors. Yeah, my work uses internet access through a regional server which is in yet another state. Thanks for trying to contact the owner, I certainly don't want them to think that I have any mal intentions. If he doesn't want anyone other than family/friends to view, perhaps he should not make it a public blog.
