Ii Need Help With Xp Home
I have been trying to help my sister with her computer, But seems it is a mess and is confusing
When turn on the computer it seems to boot ok but the below errors show up so i click on OK
Welcome screen comes up i can click on a account name than nothing happens but the persons backround with no icons or taskbar and cannot even use the front botton to turn off the computer . So i cannot get access to the contents on hard drive.
If i could get it to boot up in dos from floppy and get access to c:\ i have 2 files i downloaded that might help fix the problem. They are VundoFix.exe and ComboFix.exe. which are currently on a usb thumb drive
My sister has alot of things on the hard drive she could not bear to loose (very important information along with family pictures and quite abit of music that she had bought.)

What about booting up in safe mode? start the pc, after the vendor logo appears (Dell, Compaq, etc.,) but before windows actually begins to load hit the F8 key, choose to start the computer in safe mode and see what happens, you could also choose "last known good configuration" and see if that helps.0 -
You should follow the instructions here on how to get rid of it.
If you do not have a Windows XP installation CD. Try this method:
Reboot in Safe Mode (press F8 continuously upon boot)
Go to Start, Run, type MSCONFIG and press ok.
In the Startup tab, look for the filename that is not loading and deselect it.
Press OK, restart your computer normally and see if you problem is now solved.
It the above does not work, please download Hijackthis here.
Run ComboFix and Hijackthis. After the procedures are done a post a log.0
