Bitdefender Firewall Not Working!
I've recently bumped into some trouble with my Internet connection and reinstalled the modem with the help of an assistance. The assistance told me to manually input these numbers in the Internet Protocol, i clicked 'ok' and a message came up saying:
BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Driver...................... Windows XP strongly recommends not to continue the installation
The guy told me to continue and my internet was back up. But now BitDefender IS 2008 Firewall isn't working.
PS: I've tried resetting the rules and stuff but no luck.
Please help!!!!

Dear adt,
I recommend that you do this:
Press the windows button together with r now type devmgmt.msc press enter now navigate to the display/view menu, select the option show/display hidden devices, now expand the network adaptors section you must find an entry called BitDefender Firewall NDSIS Filter Miniport. These entries should be present with no yellow exclamation marks. Double click on them and see if they are enabled. After that go to start, connect to,show all connections (if you are using windows xp). Now right click on your networkcard choose properties you must also find an entry called BitDefender Firewall NDSIS Filter Driver.
What is the problem exactly? Is it that you don't see pop-up's for allowing or blocking a new software that is making connection for the first time?
Best regards

This was the message appeared when my IP assistance told me to manually change my Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
I followed all your steps you provided, and it didn't seem to work. As you can see from the picture below, everything is already enabled.
The problem is there is no Incoming/Outgoing Network Activity and Programs can connect itself, without me notifying their rules. For instance i reseted the firewall profile, changed protection level - ask. opened IE 7 and it successfully connects. I take a look in the Firewall Traffic and there is no rule added .0 -
Hello adt,
Try to reinstall the BitDefender NDIS Driver, like this:Here is a procedure in order to manually install the Firewall module:
1. click OK on the error message about Firewall not being loaded, close the
BitDefender console with right-click -> Exit on the icon in system tray and
stop the service "BitDefender Virus Shield" from Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools -> Services
2. go to Start > Run > type: ncpa.cpl [ENTER] > right-click your "Local Area
Connection" -> Properties. In the list of items, it is possible that you have
"BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Driver". If you see it in the list, click on
it and then click on "Uninstall" -> click Yes to confirm that you want to
remove it. Wait a few moments and it will no longer be shown in the list.
3. In the same place, click "Install" -> "Service" -> "Have Disk..." ->
"Browse" and go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softwin\BitDefender Firewall.
Click OK and it will show you "BitDefender Firewall NDIS Filter Driver".
Select it, click OK and it will be install. Now "BitDefender Firewall NDIS
Filter Driver" should appear in the list of protocols for your network
connection. Click Close
4. Reboot the computer
5. Make sure that you run the Firewall Wizard before you start surfing.
Please post if it worked.
Cris.
P.S.: Remember to allow any driver installation (like the popup that you posted above).0 -

Ok i followed all your steps but i think it only made it worst.
First, i tried stopping the Bitdefender Virus Shield Service but it was not possible.
I then went to uninstall the NDIS Filter Driver. I tried installing it but an error came up saying:
Please help me!!! I don't have a firewall now0 -
You cannot stop the virus shield, because of BD SelfProtect. And you don't need to stop it.
The second error means that the firewall driver couldn't be uninstalled. So you have to reboot your computer and the driver will be removed on reboot (automatically). After you reboot, continue the steps and reinstall it.

Dear adt,
Try this reboot your pc into safe mode by just rebooting your computer but press several times on the F8 button before the windows splash screen select safe mode press enter log in with your account, navigate to start,my computer right click on your hard disk press on properties, select the security tab select everyone in group or user name and select allow after Full Control in the Permissions, navigate also to start, connect to,show all connections now right click on it and do the same thing I mean right click on it choose properties,.... Click on advanced and select replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects. Click ok and yes. Now reboot your pc.
Try to do Cris's steps again. If the problem is still the same I recommend that you first try a repair installation right click on the red BitDefender icon near the system clock press on exit. Now go to start, all programs,BitDefender 2008,repair or remove.
Did you already tried to remove the trusted zone when you go to the zones section of the firewall?
After that reboot your pc.
Best regards
