New Web Scan Engine Uses Too Much CPU

New Web Scan Engine uses too much CPU. It slows down my download speed and causes it to be limited to 250Mbps.

CPU: i5 5200U

System: 21%

Interrupts: 26% (One core of the CPU)

Total: 100% on 250Mbps

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The above example was downloading a file from the FTP.

It's even worse when I was using P2P(lots of connections) and HTTP(vsserv.exe uses lots of CPU) to download a file.

What can I do?

  • Hi,

Does the speed/cpu usage improve if you turn off Encrypted Web Scan from Protection > Online Threat Prevention ?

No, even though I turn all modules off, it stays the same.

The only way to improve is to terminate the Bitdefender service.

  • How are you downloading from the FTP? Through what app?

The app used in that example is the speed testing tool provided by my ISP, which download a file from the FTP server.

    I also tested with Chrome.

It can be reproduced by download any file from HTTP or FTP server using any app.

The higher the download speed, the higher the CPU usage.
