USB sticks going crazy after 2019 update.
I'm currently using Bitdefender Internet Security which was automatically updated to the 2019 version. The first issue I was greeted with was the new "Always On" AutoPilot mode, which I'm really not a fan of, but I guess I can live with it.
My biggest issue right now is wiith USB drives. The activity light is constantly flashing on all of my drives, whether in use or not. At first I thought maybe the devices were still being scanned, but after 24 hours, the drives are still showing activity. Even after formatting one of the drives, the activity light continues to flicker like crazy.
On my other machine which is still on the 2018 version (for now) doesn't have this issue. After scanning the drive the activity light stops until I access or write something to the drive.
I hope this isn't considered normal behavior for the new version, since I don't think it's good for the drives in the long term. my main concern is that on my other machine I also have some USB External Hard Drives which only power down if left inactive. I don't want these drives to be running 24/7, or worse still, constantle being woken up after entering sleep mode.
I should also mention, the constant activity on the USB drives is shown in Windows Resource Monitor, but there are no details on what's actually going causing the constant activity.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My last resort would be to uninstall and reinstall. Failing that, I have no choice but to find another product which I really don't want to do.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have no issues ejecting the drives which is why I didn't think this was relevant to me.
So for now, the "net stop winmgmt" and then "net start winmgmt" workaround works for me. Hope they fix it soon though.

I confirm this issue.
Within a flight simulator called "DCS World", the product allows during an active flight simulation to have USB devices plugged in and out.
But now, we experience issues when having bitdefender 2019 installed.
Every minute (or at random intervals), we see that the flight simulator experiences "USB rescans", like someone is plugging in an USB device (but it isn"t!).
This causes the flight simulator to "stutter" and to "hang", for about a few seconds!
We see the following appear (like a message on the USB keyboard!)
2018-09-21 18:55:37.804 INFO INPUT: Device [Keyboard] created deviceId = -1

Please look into this problem!
I've been investing my time in searching for the root cause of this issue, and I can only tell it IS bitdefender that is causing it.
I have uninstalled bitdefender for the moment, because BD is making the flight simulation product unusable.

I've raised the issue to the product team at Eagle Dynamics, and let's see their reaction ...
