Bitdefender Freezes
I have BitDefender Total Security installed on my XP computer. Everything worked fine for a few months, but now when I try to run a manual scan of any kind it locks my computer up. Now, I am not sure if this is a problem that has existed, because I have relied on the automatic scans up until a few days ago, when I had an unexplainable system crash (BSOD - Machine_Exception_Error). I tried running a deep system scan to see if there was anything BD could find that might explain it, but about 2 minutes into the scan the computer froze and I had to manually reset the computer. I have since resolved the BSOD issue (fingers crossed), but my computer still freezes anytime I try to run a manual scan. Any suggestions? I am running Windows XP SP3 (Recently updated, problem started before SP3 update).
Let me know if you need more information.
Thank you,
Roger

My opinion is that it has something to do with the hardware stress. While runnig scans the CPU gets stressed.
You need to check 2 things first:
1.CPU cooling
2.Power Supply
To see if the problem is the CPU ran aditionally Prime 95 instances while looking to a temperature monitoring software.
If this occurs only while scaning with BitDefender maybe would be indicated to reinstall BD.0 -
Hello AquaRogg,
Can you please do the following:
Click on start,my computer, right click on my computer choose properties, click on the advanced tab, under the section startup and repair settings press on settings,Write Debugging Information select Small Memory Dump. Press on ok. Can you please attach the minidump file that you can reach when you first press windows button together with r now type this %SystemRoot%\Minidump press enter. One warning do not send an error report to microsoft before copying the dmp file that is located in the minidump folder. Otherwise the dmp file is gone. Press windows button again together with r but type now eventvwr press enter. Open the application and system logbook and see if there are any errors logged if so please post them.
Best regards

And you can try some CPU stress programs.

So you can check if its your CPU that gets overheated and causes BSOD/freezes.0
