"Suspicious connection blocked" notification will not stop

I'm am getting this notification literally at least every 10 seconds. I have tried disconnecting the wifi and clearing my browsers cache, the messages didn't even stop when the wifi wasn't connected. How do I either stop this or stop all notifications. If I can't solve this soon I'm just going to have to find a different anti virus program

  • Hello @Squishcat and welcome to the Community!

This has happened also to other community members. Usually, it's a matter of expired certificates for certain websites and your case is exactly that. It is difficult to pinpoint what's causing it and I would suggest to contact our support team, here : https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/

But before that, you might try:

1.check that your system data is accurate

2.try and navigate avoiding those websites which cause that error (if you wish, you can check their certificates here https://www.sslshopper.com/ )

    3.do a full scan sweep

    cheers,

    Mike

I get that very often as well, especially when I browse items on eBay UK / eBay US.

It seems it loads those images of items from various sites and then it bombards me with that error, sometimes I get 40-50 immediately.

I realize that if I turn Encrypted Web Scan off, that will help. But I wonder how big a risk it actually is to leave it off? How common it is that my computer might get infected / compromised that way?

If it can't be stopped without turning that off, it would be very nice if it would be developed in such a way that it would block them silently or add an option to keep it silent. Then it could just block them without bombarding with that message :)

  • Hi,

I do not recommend to disable Encrypted Web Scan, as the traffic will no longer be filtered securely.

This can be triggered by ads, so I would suggest the usage of an adblocker, such as https://adblockplus.org/

    Cheers.

  • OK, thanks.

I am using "ublock origin", I can check if I can create rules to block those, or use some other adblocker. Many of them seem to come from the same sources, like for example when I looked for cellphone cases from ebay UK I got a LOT of them from kwmobile...something.

    Cheers.

  • Hi,

Based on my experience, adblocker works like a charm. There was another member that encountered the same issue a couple of weeks ago and they went for the adblocker and were no longer bothered.

    Cheers!
