The firewall alert feature is not working properly.

I can't accept or reject alerts because it goes into an infinite loop. I cannot close it either, unfortunately.

It is useless and I had to disable the feature.

The version I am using is 26.0.12.56

Operating system: windows 11

Operating system build number: 22000.527

For anyone reading this with the same problem it turns out for me the solution was to disconnect from my WireGuard VPN. Seems to be a problem only while connected to WireGuard. Using OpenVPN doesn't cause the issue of infinite loop alert mode.

@Alexandru_BD Your team should look into this, it is able to be replicated by using the official WireGuard VPN program, reboot your computer a few times while connected to the VPN with Alert mode configured in Bitdefender and sure enough application alerts don't go away when you click allow or deny - sometimes they do after 4 clicks or so. Disconnecting and quitting the WireGuard VPN program immediately solves the issue. Possibly a firewall routing issue with WireGuard?

    Just my findings. Cheers

  • Hello,

  • I experience the same problem on multiple windows 10 machines on a daily basis.

    I do not have WireGuard.

The only way I can get the popups to go away is to reboot my machines - this is really annoying and disruptive.

I can see that BitDefender has been notified that I have "allowed" the action, in the BitDefender log. In those cases where it is blocking an application, once I click "allow" the offending application is allowed to proceed, but the BitDefender Popup keeps popping up (after each press of "allow" button).

I have now rebooted my machine 5 times in the last hour.

    Not happy.

    Hello.

    -- STEP 1 --

Repair Bitdefender, by following these steps:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/13429/

    -- STEP 2 --

If the instructions from Step 1 didn't help, uninstall the Bitdefender program using the Uninstall Tool.

For Bitdefender Paid version click here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/links/uninstall_consumer_paid.html

For Bitdefender Trial version click here:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/links/uninstall_consumer_trial.html

It will completely remove the program.

Next, reinstall Bitdefender from your Bitdefender Central account and see if the issue has been resolved, as reinstalling the program usually solves the issues.

    -- STEP 3 --

If the instructions from Step 2 didn't help, follow the instructions in this step.

First, take screenshot(s) of the issue

and create a log file on your Windows device using Bitdefender Support Tool, by following these steps:

    https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/1733/

Next, contact Bitdefender Consumer Support by e-mail:

    https://community.bitdefender.com/en/discussion/91918/bitdefender-websites-and-bitdefender-consumer-support-contacts

with short description of the issue.

After that, you will get an automated reply by the Bitdefender Customer Care Team, with your ticket number.

Now, in reply to that automated reply, you can send the screenshot(s) you already took and the log file you already created in the first step.

Since you are all done, just wait for the support engineers to investigate your issue and find a solution to fix the issue.

Remember that the screenshot(s) and the log file will help a lot to the support engineers for better and faster investigation on your issue and finding a solution.

    Regards.

  • Hi @aeb,

This is a known situation currently under investigation. If Alert Mode is enabled, a pop-up asking you to allow or deny access to an application is displayed. Normally, if you click on Allow/Deny, the pop-up disappears. However, users have reported that the same pop-up reappears in some cases and it has to be clicked multiple times in order for it to disappear.

Until the developers find a fix that can be deployed via an automated update, the only workaround would be to disable Alert Mode. This will not weaken your defenses by any means, as the Alert Mode basically does what its name suggests, it shows alerts each time an app tries to connect to the internet and gives you more control for each connection. But the Firewall protection will remain enabled. The developers will get to the bottom of this.

  • I hit this every couple weeks as well. Super annoying as you have to reboot to get that notification window out of the way.
