USA Government New Update On Iranians Sanctions. Will Bitdefender Provide Its Products Again?
Hi.
Due to this article, USA gov has removed sanctions related to software companies to provide their products to Iranians.
Will Bitdefender provide its products again?
I guess @Alexandru_BD can explain this and discuss about this with Bitdefender legal team.
Thanks.

Hello @Amir,
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing this information with the Community!
You are correct, compliance with the export restriction is extremely important to our company, therefore as part of our ongoing efforts to comply with export control regulations, we have made the decision to withdraw our services from Iran at some point.
There are no updates from our side at the moment. However, given the nature of recent developments, I have forwarded your inquiry to our legal team, for an official statement regarding our position.
I hope things will change for the better.

While @Alexandru_BD or @Mike_BD can provide you with additional information, you need to understand that bitdefender is a romanian company and not an american company.

Hello, the American antivirus companies like Norton that I talked to have now announced that they are ready for Iran to get out of the software embargo.
My question is, does the Bitdefender company operate contrary to American companies?

I had been using Bitdefender Total Security for 10 years and renewed it annually. As usual, I renewed my license last year. But, after "6 months", I received an email from Bitdefender stating that my "1-year license" is expired by the company due to sanctions.
I understand the legal situation; but, on the other hand, it is the duty of the company to support the customers. It is exactly what Bitdefender did not do.
Despite your extraordinary product, I no more trust your company to pay for it and will not recommend it anymore as well. Because there is no guarantee not to be expired a day after payment!
In my country which is sanctioned for many reasons, it is a type of theft!
P.S: GL D-1 was issued on February 7, 2014, NOT 2022!

Hello @kciveng and thanks for joining the conversation.
There is some interesting information submitted by one of our members on this thread as well, regarding GL D-1 & GL D-2.
There's more than meets the eye here.
I hope things will get back to normal. What happened is really unfortunate and I can totally understand your disappointment. But some decisions were not entirely ours to make. Nobody wanted this and there are situations where we feel we could have done more. But we can't really change that now, so we need to focus on what needs to be done next and take the lesson with us.
Later edit: I will get in touch with you privately. to see if there's anyway I can help you.

I hope people in Bitdefender company again re-evaluate the Iranian people's ban from using their product. There is no legal or even political reason to continue this ban
with the Iran General License (GL) D-2 :
Anti-virus and anti-malware software designated EAR99 or classified under ECCN 5D992.c; and services necessary for the operation of such software.
the Bitdefender antivirus products can provide service to Iranian people, I want to ask why Bitdefender company is not changing its stance regarding this matter and is still sanctioning the Iranian people from using their products.
with governmental efforts to spy on people and with people needing software like Bitdefender, it would help them a lot to defend themselves and enjoy one of the best protections available on the market.

Hello @SHAYAN1,
First of all, I would like to start by thanking you for your appreciation.
In compliance with export control regulations, Bitdefender is still restricted from selling its products in Iran (both enterprise and consumer). This change was made as of January 2022 and there are no new developments at this time.Thank you for your understanding.
