Bitdefender is blocking access to websites that we use all the time

Hi sluggosgarage,
Welcome in the forum !
You could have help there:
A small tip for what it's worth, I am often unable to trade something on a professionnal site, not because of the antimalware software but because of the browser's anti-adware/tracker/adblock gimmick. I often have to deactivate it to have full access. A small tip indeed, but you could quickly check if the issue is there.
Then, if your Bitdefender software protection goes off nightly, you had better deinstall and reinstall it first.
Cheers,
L.

Hello @sluggosgarage,
If you are referring to comed.com, I can access it without any issues whatsoever, with Bitdefender installed. Security related notifications are displayed regardless of the antivirus version, if this is what you are experiencing. In the event you cannot access a particular website and adding it to the exceptions list doesn't make any difference, try to switch off the security modules one by one to find out which one is blocking the website. You can find a step-by-step guide here:
This article may also help, but it's important to know exactly what the notification says:
So, before uninstalling Bitdefender, there are a few things you can try first. Surely, a solution can be found, you just need to know where to look.

I have to respectfully disagree with the last sentence in your post. Bitdefender is a world-class device security solution.
It might help if, instead of ranting, you sought assistance for your issue. We have no real idea of the exact nature of your login issue because you did not provide them. I am totally confused by the quote in your post that says:
Wrong, wrong, wrong, at least on the free version. I have the complete works paid version
.Which product DO you have?
This Forum is a wealth of knowledge and expertise where users, just like you, provide knowledgeable assistance. Bitdefender staff are also available here to assist and do so on a regular basis.
In any event, it is your computer, so you decide what software to use. Sorry, you are not satisfied.
Have a great day.
Regards,
Phil

Agree, that is something to consider, and also the browser used and its Privacy and Security settings.

I'm finding quite often that Bitdefender is blocking sites that our customers use, unwilling (or unable) to override the block, I will check the URL on Virustotal and find that Bitdefender is the only Security Vendor blocking the site, as in the example below.
I submit the site to Bitdefender for re-evaluation, but then hear nothing further.
Am I doing it wrong?

I have the same problem. have temporarily resolved by turning off Chrome extension. This is a Paid for piece of software We should not have to resolve the issue Bitdefender should find the resolution and FIX the problem

If the link is not removed within a maximum of 72 hours, it is usually considered malicious/phishing by Bitdefender malware researchers, and the detection will remain and not be removed.

I keep having to re-log into sites like Misrosoft for the Office suite.
No one else in the company has this problem....No one else in the company uses Bitdefender!
Getti really tired of it!...3+ times a week on startujp and trying to use part of the office suite.

Hello @Kymbo111959,
Bitdefender doesn't directly prevent or request login into the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Any login prompts within Office applications are usually related to accessing additional features or services rather than antivirus-related actions. How did you come to the conclusion that the antivirus is the culprit here?

Since uninstalling bitdefender I have had NO issues! I stay logged into Microsoft! I have not had to log back into my account since i uninstalled! Proof enough?

Have you uninstalled just the antivirus, or the VPN as well? Were you using the VPN previously, when the login issue appeared? This is not something that can be reproduced on demand and really there should be no connection whatsoever between Bitdefender and your Microsoft Office suite login. Something else is happening there.

Anything to do with Bitdefender is gone! I never used the VPN product from Bitdefender even though it was installed.

Ok, after doing some research, I found out that this can be related to the software's handling of cookies and cache, which are essential for maintaining login sessions. I can't be sure of that, but this is how it looks like at first glance.
Should you consider to reinstall Bitdefender, try to disable its security modules one by one to identify which one could be affecting the login. You can find the steps here:
Also, try using a different browser to see if the issue persists. If it doesn’t, it might be a browser-specific issue with the antivirus.

I have a paid Netgear Armor/Bitdefender subscription. When I access a new site (members.performancegolf.com) I can log-in, navigate to various tabs but can't play video content on the site (I get a loading circle forever). I contacted Performance Golf site support and they did not see anything blocking and no notable user complaints relating to site access. Problem exists in Edge and Chrome (both current versions). There is no mention of Bitdefender activity in the Dashboard summary.
YouTube videos work fine.
I added performancegolf to exceptions in Bitdefender. No change in behavior.
I checked extensions in the browsers and see Bitdefender Anti-tracker is enabled in both. Turned it off in the browser settings and the site video content works.
I realize that this site must be a sales site and trackers gold mine but seems turning off the extension is a bit excessive given it pertains to all sites.
Do I have a better option for the Bitdefender browser extension behavior?

Hello @Gary7a,
Check this comment:
Scott also posted a screenshot displaying how to add exceptions for the Anti-Tracker and I've shared the complete guide for the Anti-tracker. 🙂

I'll try tuning these settings but yes that seems to be the issue on this site. Enabling anti-tracker and blocking the 3rd party trackers seem to allow the video load. Blocking the 3rd party seems to block the video. The tracker count is large in the video segments...
Appreciate the tip.

Hi Mike, I am PAYING for Bitdefender & am having the same problems with some websites I have used for years without a problem. Paying, I should not be getting problems from Bitdefender. I am supposed to be protected from having problems from this security company. 😒

Alexandru_BD. Was your last comment in relation to my issues? If so, it has nothing to do with browsers. I keep getting logged out of Microsoft.com with every 2 or shutdowns of the PC. I was even getting logged out of my gmail accounts (Business and private accounts). Luckily there isnt any other accounts where i stay logged in all the time. When I want to use word, excel, powerpoint etc, I have to log back into my microsoft account. As I said, this issue has disappeared since uninstalling Bidefender (Internet edition)

No @Kymbo111959 that sounds like a different issue. My latest answer was for Gary7a and it seems to have helped.

@Alexandru_BD keep in mind that my issue was for video not loading but I had access to other areas of the site I was using. This issue is logging @Kymbo111959 off a very common site seems very different.

Bitdefender is blocking all types of websites that I used to be able to access all of the sudden. I have a paid subscription so I am not using the free version. If I disable Bitdefender VPN, then I can access the websites no issues. Why is this happening?

Hi @MrReferee73,
Obviously, this has nothing to do with the subscription/license version, be it free or paid, but most likely with some of the VPN settings there, since you discovered that whenever the VPN is OFF those websites can be accessed again. First, if you are using the Premium VPN, change the VPN server. If this doesn't solve the issue, I would recommend using the Split Tunneling feature, but if you are experiencing this with all the websites you are trying to access, I would recommend to contact Bitdefender Support and provide them with a debug log on your PC using the Bitdefender Support Tool. Here's how you can do this:
Then head to the link below to get in touch with the Support engineers:
State your contact reason / choose request category, then choose from the available contact channels, chat, phone and email/ticket. Chat would be the fastest way to reach them. Make sure to include the following information that may help them troubleshoot the issue faster:
- The OS on which the VPN is running
- Your Central account
- Whether the problem occurs on a
specific location or all locations - IP of the affected server(s)
- The applications/sites affected
- If using standalone VPN or VPN in BMS
- Whether the problem occurs only on mobile data or only on Wi-Fi or present on both.
Preferably try multiple networks - App version
I hope this helps.
