Bitdefender permanently broke my System Restore feature how to fix?
So normally bitdefender blocks you from using system restore, so you need to uninstall it when you want to goto a previous restore point
However I did a system restore twice, and the first time it restored old bitdefender files, and those bitdefender files blocked me from restoring the 2nd time (to a different restore point)
i entirely have removed everything i could of bitdefender, however when i try to do a system restore, i get an error saying an anti-virus is blocking my restore, and i think bitdefender did not properly remove itself from my computer, also on top of that Bitdefender won't reinstall on my computer when I try to reinstall it, it just puts on the "Bitdefender Agent" and that's it and then glitches out of the install
can the developers make a proper uninstall tool that removes ever trace of bitdefender, because my computer is now permanently stuck with this (in the meantime i installed malware bytes as a temporary antivirus until i can get this fixed)

@Cobson ,
Welcome to the Bitdefender Forums. Like virtually all anti-virus and some other programs, restoring a System Restore point is usually blocked. The solution is to do the restore from Safe Mode, which loads minimal OS files. There is no need to uninstall Bitdefender.
If you are now getting a message with Bitdefender (BD) uninstalled, it is probably Windows Defender blocking the restore. Once BD is uninstalled, Windows Defender will activate itself.
I have not heard of issues with the BD Uninstall tool. May I suggest that you contact BD Support and supply the requested logs? Chat is the fastest way to reach them; the phone is not toll-free.
Malwarebytes is not a genuine anti-virus program, despite their advertising. Check to make sure that Windows Defender is active and that Malwarebytes has not turned it off, which it likes to do by default. Go to Malwarebytes, Settings, Security, and then scroll down to "Windows Security Center" and toggle that to Off to reactivate Windows Defender.
Good luck. Have a great day.
Regards,
Phil

Kindly perform the following steps and see if they help you in any way:
1) Uninstall the Bitdefender product using the Add/Remove Programs option in Windows.
2) To remove any remaining files, download and run the Bitdefender product uninstaller from this link: https://www.bitdefender.com/files/KnowledgeBase/file/Bitdefender_2023_Uninstall_Tool.exe
3) Restart your PC in safe mode. You can follow this guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode-in-windows-92c27cff-db89-8644-1ce4-b3e5e56fe234
4) As soon as the desktop opens, assuming your Windows drive is 'C,' open the following locations in the 'Run' command (Windows icon + R) one by one:
C:\Program Files (delete any folder with the name bitdefender)
C:\Program Files (x86) (delete any folder with the name bitdefender)
C:\ProgramData (delete any folder with the name bitdefender)
C:\Users{your PC name}\AppData\Local (delete any folder with the name bitdefender)
5) Open the Run command and execute the following commands one by one:
temp - delete all the files in the folder
%temp% - delete all the files in the folder
prefetch - delete all the files in the folder
6) Open the registry editor through the 'Run' command (Windows icon + R) and then type 'regedit.' Once the registry editor opens, click on 'Edit' -> 'Find,' and make sure to checkmark 'Match whole strings only.' Type 'bitdefender' in the search box and click 'Find Next.' If any file or folder with the name 'bitdefender' is found, delete it. Continue searching the registry and deleting until the search reports no registry keys found. Restart your PC in normal mode by unchecking the option you selected to run the system in safe mode, and then click 'Apply.'
7) Remove devices from your online Bitdefender Central: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2795/
8) Download the online installer for your respective Bitdefender product from the links provided below:

Is there a link to an offline installer?
Also I think i found the problem, I cannot delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bitdefender" for some reason, and this is blocking the install. When I try to delete it I says I need admin access, which I am the admin

@Cobson ,
Have you used the Bitdefender Uninstall Tool?
Have you tried deleting that file from Safe Mode if it survives the uninstallation?
I hope this helps. Have a great day.

Phil

Did you follow the detailed steps provided above?
There are standalone/offline installers available, but they are only limited to Bitdefender Total Security.

same thing happened to me but in my case, after uninstalling bitdefender, the restore is successful and after trying to reinstall bitdefender, it just won't install anymore. I followed all steps trying to fully remove bitdefender on my pc and reinstall it, but can't reinstall it again, hopefully they make an uninstaller that deletes and removes BD (100%) on the system, so that reinstalling it wouldn't be hard and full of errors.

Hello :)
Bitdefender only makes the one uninstall tool, this being it, besides going through the steps Flexx posted above, Feb 20, for a totally clean uninstall.
It will pretty much delete everything (including BD Agent) but will leave a leftover folder in Hidden items, Users/your PC name/App Data/in either the Local or Roaming folder.
Cheers :)
