Trying to install Bitdefender onto a new computer

I have been trying to install Bitdefender onto my new computer (existing subscription) but I keep getting a non-verified Microsoft App warning to change my settings. How do I do this?

Answers

  • To change your settings:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Select Apps.
    3. Choose Apps & features.
    4. Adjust the installation options to allow installations from outside the Microsoft Store.

  • I have promoted you to level 2 so that you can share the screenshot of the error here in order to provide information.

  • Hello,

I think it has to do with Windows running in S mode.

The error you receive is most likely - The app you are trying to install isn't a Microsoft- verified app and it comes up because your Windows is running in S mode. Windows in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store.

If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows in S mode. There's no charge to switch out of S mode. Follow the steps below and try to install Bitdefender afterwards:

Let us know how it goes.
