Websites erroring out
I just uninstalled Kapersky and loaded Bitdefender and am having all kinds of trouble. My OS is Windows 11 and PC. I use MS Edge as a browser. When I click on a link from my news page or try certain websites (i.e. Facebook) it tells me MSN shut it down. I have tried restarting my WiFi, Modem. computer to no avail. I'm really getting frustrated here. Can (and would) anyone help me please?

Kindly check if the steps below help.
1) Open the Run command and execute the following commands one by one:
temp – delete all the files in the folder.
%temp% – delete all the files in the folder.
prefetch – delete all the files in the folder.
2) Temporary disable Bitdefender's Web Protection:
3) Check for Conflicting Extensions:
- In Edge, go to edge://extensions/ to manage extensions.
- You can disable them all at once and then re-enable one by one to pinpoint the problem.
4) Clear MS Edge Cache:
5) Reset MS Edge: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/reset-microsoft-edge/
6) Check for Windows 11 Updates:
7) Reinstall Bitdefender:

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, my browser won’t allow the website you sent. I did get an email from tech support where he kindly wrote out the instructions. Unfortunately, there was no joy in Mudville. It did not help. I have responded asking if they can remote in to take a look or should I just try uninstalling and re-installing the program. I’m having this problem with both Chrome and Edge. I can’t believe this problem is specific to me. This must work. I hope so, I have tried cleaning the cache, cookies, temp files to no avail. I also have uninstalled other programs I had that worked flawlessly. I hope I can recover them if necessary.
Thanks for the help.

I am having the same issues on my Desktop only…
I spent a lot of time on the phone with my internet provider (Allo) and they were very thorough and helpful with restarting modem, router, shutting of Bit Defender etc, but still no dice with certain websites (of course the ones I use the most). They found the phone number for Bit Defender so I called them, and they spent about 3 minutes to tell me it wasn't a Bit Defender issue.
Now what??

I think I fixed the problem on my computer, I did delete all the temporary files that I could, I tried to uninstall Bit Defender Agent which was added on July 17 ( I had no idea ) but it would not let me delete Total Security Bit Defender because it said I didn't have administrator priliveges….but I did delete Bit Defender Central and not my web sites work!

You are not the only one having issues with this. I started with my internet provider and they spent a lot of time on the phone with me. Restarting routers and modems and shutting of Bit Defender etc…still no go.
Then I called Bit Defender with the number kindly provided by Allo ( My internet provider), and they were not helpful at all, spent a whole 5 minutes to tell me it is not their fault…asked what to do now, and they had nothing to say except that it is not a Bit Defender problem.
However, I think it is based on the threads I see on here.

@Not Happy in Nebraska this could be far-fetched, but can you try to disable the Encrypted web scan in Bitdefender and check afterwards? You will find this option in Protection → Online Theat Prevention → Settings → turn OFF Encrypted web scan.

Same thing here. 😥 I had to uninstall Bitdefender to get web access back up.
I had installed BitDefender Total Security on a Windows 10 Desktop a week ago. All week the pc has been working fine.
Thursday at 4pm I fired up my Oculus Quest 2 headset to watch a 3d movie stored on my desktop using plex. The movie started for about a minute, and suddenly started buffering. Suddenly I couldn't connect to my desktop.
I went and looked at all internet traffic was stopped and the pc was no longer accessable on our internal network.
I turned off the BitDefender firewall, rebooted and as things were starting up, I got the browser up and could refresh my email, but then a few moments later, something must have started up and started blocking it with the firewall off.
So I turned off everything I could in Bitdefender, restarted. Still the problem persisted. I couldn't reach any networks outside my machine. But bitdefender could update itself, though it was very slow.
So I uninstalled Bitdefender and the problem went away.
WTF😫 is Bitdefender doing when everything is turned off, that is still causing it to block network traffic?🤨0 -
@mike8675309 check if you have the latest version installed - 27.0.40.174 might help resolve this behavior. If not, reach out to Bitdefender Support as they can help you out with this. Use this link here:

@Alexandru_BD I did check with support, they have yet to fix it.
Here is the steps so far:
Uninstall Bitdefender - problem goes away.
Support has me re-install bitdefender
No problem in the first 24 hours.
Problem comes back after using computer for about 1.5 hours streaming from youtube and a local plex server on the box.
Problem shows up as no connectivity to the internet.
Gmail typically has a Google SSL cert in the browser when it's working.
When it's not working Google still shows it's cached SSL Cert
A public forum I go to when bitdefender is working, shows a bitdefender SSL cert. when it's working
When bitdefender is not working, the public forum site has no SSL cert showing up in the browser. It's like the thing that does the SSL forwarding has choked and is stopping all traffic. All this was sent to support this morning.2
