    Hi @Li

Best to factory reset your pc or permanently delete any file on it if you have any sensitive private files on it before returning it to the store by using a third party software to permanently delete files.

Here is a guide on several methods to do this: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/secure-erase-ssd-or-hard-drive

  • When it comes to securely erasing data, the choice between SSDs and HDDs can impact the method you use. SSDs, which use flash memory, have a built-in feature called TRIM that automatically manages data deletion. This makes reinstalling Windows the most effective way to erase data on an SSD.

However, HDDs, which use magnetic platters, require more manual intervention. While reinstalling Windows can delete most data, shredding software can be used to overwrite data multiple times, making it more difficult for anyone to recover. This is because shredding software can physically overwrite data on the magnetic platters, making it essentially unrecoverable.

Therefore, if you're concerned about data security and using an HDD, consider using shredding software in addition to reinstalling Windows. For SSDs, reinstalling Windows is the most efficient and secure method.
