Powerfull Virus Stop Update Service ....
Hello all.
We face a general problem, the update service stopped all.
All settings about it looks gray without any effect for it's settings.
Show hidden files is not working too.
It's a new strong virus attacking BitDefender, without any acting from BitDefender !!
Can any one provide us the solution (fix toll for example) to kill this virus and reshow hidden files ?
It's very important.
Best Regards.

Dear alsadinet,
Please try this first:
BitDefender rescue cd. You need to burn this as an bootable image. if you don't have a burning software that is capable to burn bootable images you can use this free burning software. See here for instructions for how to create a bootable image with CDBurnerXp. Print the following instructions and here for how to update BitDefender. Just put the bootable cd-rom and reboot the pc.
Can you please do what is described here.
Kind regards,

Hi there Alsadinet,
You might also want to check this KB:
http://www.bitdefender.com/site/KnowledgeBase/consumer/#515
The last section provides a tool that should remove the virus and restore the update service folder. Please let us know if it worked.

Thanks all for replay.
In fact before I type my problem here, I send it to bitDefender support.
After our correspondence with them, they have sent me this tool (patch_upgrade_files.EXE)
I run it, after 15 minutes it's removed hidden viruses in my PC depending on Internet connection speed.
Then the BitDefender update service worked very well.
But the Windows hidden files service still not work.
I just need to help me for this issue.

Hi there,
Well that should be easy to fix. Please do this:
1. Go to Start->Run. Type regedit and hit Enter.
2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder
3. Go to Hidden and expand the folder. You will have another 2 sobfolders. Go to NOHIDDEN first.
In the right handside you have CheckedValue and DefaultValue. Set them both to the value 2.
4. Go to SHOWALL subfolder. In the right handside you have CheckedValue and DefaultValue. Set CheckedValue to 1 and DefaultValue to 2. Close the editor and check if you can display hidden files.
Thanks,
