Trouble Scanning With Bitdefender When Second Hd Is Installed
Ok, I have BitDefender Antivirus 2009 it had been working good but when i install a second Harddrive it will not scan. It either just freezes up or it turns grey and says services are not responding and to restart.
I can take out the Harddrive and i can scan fine....put it back in and it wont scan. I have tried multiple HD's but the same thing happens. Any clue why this might happen? Its really frustrating.
Thanks

Oh one more thing to clarify, I don't mean it just can't scan that drive..... It Cannot scan at all, not in basic view not in advanced, not with deep, full or the "fix it" button nor can it do a manual scan via the start menu.

Hello UFCS,
Try the following and tell us what results you have:
Instead of running a deep system scan on the machine, try opening up MyComputer and right click on the second hard drive - select "Scan with BitDefender 2009". Please tell me if the scan launches like this.
Also, I wasn't quite able to understand what type of HDD you have - do you have this issue when attaching a hard drive by USB/Firewire or a slave ATA/SCSI device?
Thank you!0 -
The harddrives are both IDE and SATA. The IDE is being set to slave. They both show up and i have access to them, but scans do not work, even on my original drive. Trying to right click the drive and doing a scan that way also does not work. An hourglass pops up beside my cursor for a split second but nothing happens. There is also no scan showing in the notification area on my task bar like it should.
So to sum it up, with a second Hard drive hooked up it doesnt:
Deep scan
Full scan
Tasked scan for any of the drives
Manual scan in the start menu
Manual scan by right clicking either of the drives
When i try to do any of the scans it will either just do nothing or i will get the greyed out bitdefender is not responding and to restart.
If i just have my original drive with no other harddrives in my computer it scan properly and the program will work perfectly. So im not sure why adding another harddrive is causing a problem.
Also I have tried several different Harddrives even fresh ones with no data and still no scanning.
Thanks for the reply and sorry my reply is so late.0
