Issues With Internet Security 2009

Alright, I've been having a couple of issues with BitDefender Internet Security 2009, and I'd like to know how to fix them :).

1: this one has been posted here before, and it's something I'd really like to see in 2010, a file that can be used for Windows Live Messenger's file transfer feature. This needs to be pointed to an executable that will scan the file you're receiving, tell you if it's ok, and that's it, don't think this is such a hard thing to do.

2: When BitDefender finds a file it can't disinfect, it automatically deletes it, is there any way to stop this? It's quite annoying.

3: BitDefender shows it's logo in the lower right corner of Windows Live Messenger conversation windows, and it can't be removed, even after disabling BD's features that relate to Messenger, the logo still shows, and it looks terrible on a black skin. How can I get rid of this?

4: For some reason, at certain times, when I click the logo in the system tray, it will NOT bring up the program, it will not do anything. At that point there is NO way to open BitDefender until I reboot, and this shouldn't be happening.

That's all for now, I hope there's an answer for this. I'm really looking forward to BitDefender 2010, good luck with developing that, think I'll check it out in a virtual machine later :).

Thanks in advance!

Glen

Sounds to me like your installation might be damaged, have you tried reinstalling BD?

  • Also, forgot to post that I'm on Vista Ultimate SP2 x86, but none of these problems are related to that. I'm also running SUPERAntiSpyware, which I installed AFTER BitDefender, which means none of this is related to the program either.

    Hello ps-gunkie,

We're going to take your inquiries one by one:

    1. The first one is a feature request for a future BitDefender version - please post it on the BitDefender 2010 forum here:

    http://forum.malwarecity.com/index.php?showforum=34

    2. You can change the default settings of the on-demand scanner by following the steps we listed in post 5 of this topic:

    http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=13943

    3. If you do not wish to have the BitDefender logo in Windows Live Messenger just boot the system in Safe Mode, then browse to:

    C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2009

Look for the file called "imguimsn.dll"and rename it to "imguimsn.d_". Now boot the system in normal Windows mode and test if you still have the BitDefender logo in the chat window.

    4. For this issue please tell us what built you have for BitDefender and also try to open BitDefender and if the window does not come up open the Task Manager and check in order to see if the "seccenter.exe" and "bdagent.exe" processes are running.

    1. Done that, thanks :). Any particular reason why you have 2 BitDefender forums? Or is the other one for BD 2010 only?

    2. That works for scanning, thanks :). What I couldn't find though, is a similar setting for the real-time protection, does "Deny access and continue" work the same way?

    3. That worked great, can't believe it was that simple, thanks! :D

    4. I'll have to wait until it happens again then :P. My build number is 12.0.12.1.

This is the Official BitDefender Support Forum.

Malware City is a community forum powered by BitDefender. Since BitDefender is now in Beta stage, you can't really say that's "officially" supported, so that's why the forum for BitDefender 2010 was set on Malware City, not here. :)

Yes, it's about the same thing. When a threat is detected, BitDefender will just deny all access to that file, notify you through a popup message, and leave the file(s) where they are, unchanged. After that it's up to you what you do next.

When it happens, don't hesitate to post. :)
