Bitdefender Total Sec. And Windows Media Center
I recently switched over from norton 360 to Total Security 2009 and now my internet t.v. on my windows media center and hp mediasmart don't work. I just get a black screen with no audio/video. I uninstalled it and it works again. Can someone help me out with this so I can reinstall the Bitdefender back to my laptop, please. I'm thinking it may have something to do with the BD firewall?

Hello joejonesalso,
In order to help you troubleshoot this issue , you will need to to install BitDefender again following the instructions from the next BitDefender article :http://www.bitdefender.com/KB559 .
After BitDefender is installed please try this:
1. Open BitDefender, go to the Advanced View button in the upper menu and click on Firewall; Temporarily uncheck "Firewall is enabled". Now please test in order to see if the same issue reoccurs.
2 . If it doesn't reoccur please re-enable the Firewall, then select the Network tab in the upper menu and click on the current "Network Type", pull down the drop-down menu and select "Trusted Local", Stealth to "No" and Generic to "Yes".
3. Click on the Rules tab then click on the Advanced button from the right . Please search for any processes belonging to the application that has the connectivity issue and check in order to see if it has the Action "Deny" -> if this is the case please double click on the entry and change the action to "Allow".
We are looking forward to your response .0 -
Thank you Alex,
It took a while but I figured it out. I followed the directions you gave and it worked perfectly. In case anyone else has this problem you need to go into rules and allow:
c:\windows\ehome\ehshell.exe.0 -
