Never Performed A Malware Scan

I have 9 copies of various 2009 BD products, but on one system (of course, the most important) when the Pending Issue to Fix notice comes up, it will indicate the need to scan for malware and will additionally inform that the system has never been scanned for same. If I attempt to go ahead and click the button to fix/resolve the pending issue(s), I am taken to the page that shows the areas and which issue is in need of a fix. If the only pending issue is the malware issue, clicking the specific action for a malware scan or the generic button that should resolve all issues results in no action. If other issues are present, the fix all button will start actions to resolve the other issues as will the buttons associated to the (other) individual issues. The bottom line is that the application does not seem to be able to initiate a malware scan on this one system.

I have not tried to uninstall and reinstall as this might be a little drastic and perhaps unnecessary given that the other features and scans all to seem to be fine.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the matter and if I end up having to reload then I will, but I prefer to understand the issue and address it accordingly rather than taking the shotgun approach with a reload.

Thanks.

  • I have the same problem. Even if I click on any of the "FIX" buttons, nothing happens.

I tried updating (Game mode is OFF) and restarting but nothing changes. It is my only issue to fix.

Same problem here. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've experienced this. In the past I have followed support's instructions and emailed a copy of the report etc. The problem is that it takes several days for support to reply and I don't know if I'm properly protected at this time.

In the end, I just uninstall, then reinstall. It takes a little while and it's a huge inconvenience. It's enough of an inconvenience that I will probably switch to Norton, Kapersky or MacAfee.

I have read that there may be a patch to fix this problem so hopefully Bit Defender has a fix they can email us.
