Saving Daily Updates For Reuse.
I have the free version of BitDefender on my older computer that doesn't have a net connection. I used to use a dial-up connection on that one. Generally, I update it with the weekly manual update, but that is released once a week. What I'd like to know is, is it possible that I can use the updates from the new computer I use, which is connected to the net and updates everyday? I hear other antiviruses have an option to save the updates to a folder; so is there any folder (on the new computer) where Bitdefender saves the updates, so that I can copy them onto a pen drive and update the older one with it daily?
Sometimes I remove the hard disk from the older computer and plug it into the newer one and then I can update direct. Is it it alright if you update it usually by the manual weekly method, and then use the automatic method at times in between? Because in the manual method, you have to uninstall last week's updates and then run this week's update file, but what I do is I update automatically without removing the previous updates (in the older computer). Is this advisable?
Thanks.

Hello HydraHeaded,
You can use the BitDefender updates from the computer that is connected to the Internet. Here is what you have to do :
1. Go to the next location from your system:C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\BitDefender Threat Scanner
. Here BitDefender download its updates in the av32bit_XXXXX folder .
2. You will have to open the av32bit_XXXXX folder which have the highest number and here you will see folder called Plugins . Here BitDefender stores the latest updates downloaded from the Update server .
3. You can copy this folder on a USB flash disk then paste it in the same location(which will mean that the Plugins folder will overwrite ) on your computer that uses the BitDefender free edition . This action most be performed in Safe Mode.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Now why didn't I think of this? I was busy copying the entire BitDefender folder in Program Files and Common Files from the new to the older computer, and then in the update section on the console (of the older one), instead of the web link of the update server, I was typing the path where I had saved the folders, and it always gave an error!
Thanks a lot for the answer. Now for the other question, if possible, about whether to remove the manual weekly update and then do a live update on the net, or directly do the update without removing any previous updates. Its alright though, my problem is solved. Thanks again.0
