Delete Bitdefender File
Hi, I was trying to uninstall Bitdefender Total Security 2010 Trial Version. Instead of doing the normal process, I uninstalled it from Windows Instaler Cleanup Utility. But after that there are still some files left and I tried to delete it but it said 'You Need Permission to perform this action'... I also tried to remove it from the Removal Tool but when it finishes and I restarted, the files are still there, as well as the registry keys.
Any help would be appreciated.

not really sure about this one. I would try using the removal tool first instead of doing the windows add remove programs. Maybe reinstall BD and then try removing with the removal tool first.

Bluewaver,
The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility will not remove the application. It will clean up a failed installation so you can re-install it. Re-install the trial version, then uninstall it with Windows add/remove program, then follow up with the BitDefender uninstaller for good measure. -OR- Use an uninstaller like Revo Uninstaller. It will run the applications uninstaller then clean up the leftover registry entries that the uninstaller leaves behind.
Good luck,

Okay.. I reinstalled Bitdefender and I had no luck... An error occured during installation and it said 'The Installer has insufficient priviliges to modify this file: \Program Files\Bitdefender\Bitdefender 2010\TBD70C0.tmp' (I used D drive as C is already full)
It looks like I also can't modify the registry keys for Bitdefender even though I am the administrator.0 -

This would indicate that BDAV is running, so you can't modify the file that the app is holding captive. Again, I recommend Revo Uninstaller. It seems to be able to get rid of the most tenacious applications, even if they are running at the time.
Good luck,

Bitdefender uninstall tool is only compatable with version 7,8,9 & 10. BD2010 is version 11. I found this out when my installation went wrong and I used the uninstall tool and it didnt work, it clearly states which versions its compatible with. See last picture on this link:

I had a similar problem with a mates computer which had restricted permissions on the registry which would not allow Windows Search 4.0 to be installed. I found the following on the net and it reset all permission of the registry back to default.
Go to Start menu
Run
type the following:-
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose
click OK
a black MS-DOS command pops up and show progress.
Or see the solution for yourself:-

No it was not cause by virus.
Where it normal affect MSword or M###cel file. But no all the file too.
Yes, it can be delete by reboot the server but most of the time no.
Currently, we mark the problem to delete and wait for the time on server reboot to delete the file.
Is that a method to track which process that hold the file and cause the Share -violation ?

Hello bluewaver,
We will help you remove all the BitDefender traces from your system . Please follow the steps bellow :
1. Save the tool from the next link on your Desktop:
http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...ile/sysdump.exe .
2. Run it and you will notice that a command prompt window will appear on your screen.
3. Please note that the information gathering process can take a several minutes therefore please wait until the command prompt window disappear by itself. The output of this tool is a new file called sysdump.tar placed in the same location with sysdump.exe .
4. After the file is generated please upload it on http://www.sendspace.com/ then send me a personal message with the download link .
Also, please download a tool called FileInfo from the next link : http://www.bitdefender.com/files/Knowledge...ileInfo2008.exe . Run it and you will see that 2 files will be generated: BDFileInfo.log and BDRegnode.reg placed in the same location as the FileInfo tool. Upload these reports on the same upload website and send me the download links as well.
We are looking forward to your reply .
