Bd' Firewall Conflicts With P2pover

Dear All:

I am in a 4 computers' local network where we use a router to share the resources. But these days I found some of them using BT or Emule to download the movies. The p2p software makes the network really slow.

So I have to use p2pover(a software that can control the network. E.g. if it finds anyone using BT ,it would automatically reduce the speed of BT to 10k.). In this way ,the other 3 can surf the net more easily.

After I install the BD IS 10 ,it seems that the firewall blocked something and I could't see any warning and data change in that program (p2pover). I already set the firwall to trust this program(allow everything) and uncheck "stealth mode". But still not work. :(

But if i disable the firewall ,everything runs ok. So i am pretty sure this problem is related with the BD's firewall.

Can anyone help plz?

Thanks :)

Regards,

  • Hi bryan8888,

The p2pover application might want to use some ports that are, by default, blocked by BitDefender. Did you move the p2pover rule on the top on the Traffic list in BitDefender?

If you didn't, try this: open BD Management Console, go to Firewall -> Traffic and click on Edit Profile. There you'll see two lists (Inbound and Outbound). Search for the p2pover rule in both of the lists, select it and move it to the top of each list. This way, p2pover will have a real full network access.

If this doesn't work (or you already tried it), please post. Also, post if it worked.

  • Thank you Cris ,I have tried what you said .I found two "exe" files in that program and i add both of them to the permit list .But it doesn't work. I still can't see any warning and data changes in p2pover program which means BD firewall makes "p2pover " not work.

  • OK. I'll try to test p2pover a little. I can't promise anything, because I don't have a local network in which I can really test the program (I have Direct Internet Connection).

If I find anything, I'll let you know.

Thank you very much ,waiting for your news.

BTW ,when I used kaspersky IS 6.0 two months ago ,there are no such problems. Really weird.....

  • I have an idea . If I want to share files with other computer in our local network. How can I configure the BD firewall? Maybe after these settings , it works. Just guess

    Tried . Failed . Not work..... :(

  • I can't find any reference on the Internet about p2pover. There are many pages about it, but they are all in Chinese. If you have any link about this application that is in English, please post it.

I downloaded a kit from the web, but it also seems to have descriptions in Chinese. I'm not sure if I got the right thing. If you don't have any links for an English site that describes this application, please send me a PM with p2pover attached.

It looks like a program made in China :) Unfortunately,I can't find any instructions which written by English.

Today , I uninstall the component of firewall and just leave the antivirus ,spyware, antispam.....It is ok now.. :(

    Hope BD11 can be better
