How To Deactivate Email Scanning Message Bottom Right?
Hello,
I recently upgraded to BD Internet Security 2010.
2 Questions:
1 - How do I deactivate the blue BD message in the bottom right of my computer every time I receive an email? I still want BD to scan my emails, in the background, coming into Outlook though but don't want to be notified with this distraction.
2 - How do I stop BD from scanning my outgoing messages? I have un-checked the "scan outgoing e-mail" box in the Antivirus-Shield-Custom Level area and I still get the message that BD is scanning my outgoing e-mail message in the bottom right.
thx
Dan

Hello rollingdan,
1. Open BitDefender in Expert Mode and under the General module click on the Settings tab. Uncheck the option "Show pop-ups (on-screen notes)" . You don't have to worry about the virus alerts windows disappearing, because these alerts cannot be stopped while the BitDefender icon is active near your computer clock.
2. Even though the scan outgoing emails option is disabled under Antivirus ->Custom Level, the BitDefender Antispam module will still filter the content of the emails that you send and that is why you received the message that the emails are scanned.
Thank you .0 -

Ok, I did what you said above. The blue boxes still appear on the bottom right saying incoming email scanning. Are those the messages you are saying that cannot be stopped? If so, that pretty annoying.

Hello rollingdan,
Usually, if you remove the option "Show pop-ups (on-screen notes)" under the General module, the scan incoming or outgoing emails notification should not be displayed anymore. In order to further troubleshoot this issue we would like you to follow the steps bellow :
1. Go to the next location : C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\BitDefender\Desktop\Profiles
and look after the file called "user_gensett.xml" .
2. Upload it on http://www.sendspace.com/ then post here the download link.
Thank you.0 -
I am also having this exact same issue, and the same as the original poster I have also disabled the options specified but still have the incoming/outgoing email scanning messages appearing. Please let me know what I can provide to help. Thanks in advance.

Dan, what exactly did you set back to intermediate?0 -
If you go into BD; click on Settings button at the top right of the window. There you can switch the UI (User Interface) to Intermediate.

Hah! Kind of ridiculous, but that did the trick for me as well. Thank you sir!

I agree. I've recently stopped asking why and been saying "very interesting" and been moving on... Less wasted time that way.
Take care,
