Update Very Slow
Have just purchased BD10 and am trying to run the update, but it is very slow and keeps dropping out.
I am using Vista Home Edition and there is no problem with the internet connection.
Can anyone tell me the address of the backup server?

Hi msr,
The backup servers, as you call them, are these:
http://upgrade.bitdefender.com (default setting)
http://upgrade1.bitdefender.com
http://upgrade2.bitdefender.com
http://upgrade3.bitdefender.com
http://upgrade4.bitdefender.com
Also, there was a known problem related to BitDefender Update (disconnected updates). The problem was fixed, but I am not completely sure if the installation kit was updated with the fix.
Anyway, BitDefender should automatically fix this problem with an update. To be able to update, you have to go to C:\Program Files\Softwin\BitDefender10 and search for the file bdpredir.sys. (if you cannot see the files' extensions, go to Folder Options and un-check Hide extensions for known files) and rename it to something else (like bdpredir.sys2).
Now you should be able to update BitDefender (also, BD will download a new version of bdpredir.sys, so you do not have to do anything else).
If the above solution doesn't work, please post. Windows Vista has a bad habit of blocking BD from working correctly, but there's always a solution for any problem

That's fixed it! Thank you.
Disappointing that this has not been resolved in the file I downloaded, as it seems that I am not alone in having this problem
Now all I need is for the popups about the firewall and antispam being disabled not to pop up as requested in General -> Settings Show pop-ups and I will be very happy!

You're welcome. If you have anu other problems, you can post here and someone will gladly help youDisappointing that this has not been resolved in the file I downloaded, as it seems that I am not alone in having this problem
The installation kit is not updated daily. It is updated very rarely, usually when there is a major product update.
Also, product updates for v10 are not beeing released anymore, at least until after BDv11 will be released. BDv11 is in BETA phase and it will be officially released in a couple of months (an exact date is unknown). Now all I need is for the popups about the firewall and antispam being disabled not to pop up as requested in General -> Settings Show pop-ups and I will be very happy!
I have never seen any pop-ups (except the Firewall and Antivirus/Antispy alerts), even tho I have that option turned ON.
This might also be a small bug, but I don't think it will be fixed very soon (as I said, everybody is working very hard to make BDv11 final version).

I spoke too soon. It hasn't fixed it
I simply can't recommend BD+10 on Vista.

Unplug the powercable of your modem for 5 minutes plug it back in. Clean also your temp internet files you can use this tool: http://www.filehippo.com/download/751ed683...ebaab/download/
Do not forget to uncheck yahoo toolbar during installation. First close your browser after that start ccleaner and use run cleaner option confirm the message. Take also a look if vista firewall is disabled.

Have found the cause of this issue - I have installed a Netgear WG311T wireless network card into the PC and the update works perfectly.
There must be some sort of issue with the Via Rhine II network card and the Netgear DG834G (v1) router.

Hello msr
Good to hear that you solved your problem.
By default during the installation yahoo toolbar is checked that was what I meant with don't forget to uncheck yahoo toolbar during installation. If you have slow internet you can also unplug the powercable of your router.
