Great. Due To The Trojan.fakealert.5 Fiasco, I Can't Install Print Drivers

So I thought I had everything working after this fiasco, and now I find out that my print drivers are all FUBAR'd. And yes, I restored all quarantined files previously. But now when I try to re-install my print driver, I get "print processor does not exist."

I've already Googled and found about a dozen different theories and suggestions, and none of them worked, including totally deleting my print drivers. They will not reinstall no matter what I do.

Guess I, like so many others, will be rebuilding my system to ensure it's completely stable. Thanks, BitDefender. Just what I wanted to do...kill half a day reinstalling an OS from scratch, plus all the applications, patches, and data that go along with it.

I sincerely hope somebody got fired over this. And no, I'm not joking.

  • Well, since the system isn't letting me edit my original post, I'll add this...

    I followed marklar45's suggestion here: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?sho...ost&p=81737

In that other thread, he suggested running an elevated CMD and "sfc /scannow" Whatever that does seemed to fix it. I'm still left doubting the integrity of this system, though. But I suppose I'll leave it be for now and see if anything else breaks with it later.
