Bitdefender Antivirus 2010

I have bought the BitDefender Antivirus 2010, it works perfectly I commit, but there was a little problem. Each time I start my laptop, the control center of Windows 7 will notify me that I need to enable BitDefender Antivirus and the spyware, and one moment later, the notification will disappear, so I want to know what is that problem, thanks in advance.

    Hello,

This issue appears when the module that communicates with the Windows Security Center is loaded after the Security Center service is started. The warning is telling you that BitDefender is not yet reporting that it is functional. Following the steps below will delay the checks enough for the report to get trough and prevent the warning.

    1. Click on the Start menu button then go to Run - if you can't see the run option press the Windows key + R

    2. Type: services.msc

    3. Click on OK

    4. Search for the service 'Security Center'

    5. Set it to Automatic (Delayed Start)

    6. Restart the computer and see if the issue still occur

I followed the procedures you provided, but when I click Security Center the default option was"Automatic (Delayed Start)", so what should I do then? Besides, I set the antivirus scan time to 19:10 and I start the computer at 19:00, and due to that problem, the automatic scan does not run at all. So could someone help me out?

  • Hello Johnny0320,

In this case please try to disable from the Startup some of the applications you are not using (or you do not need them to start with Windows).

In order to do that please go to Start -> type msconfig in the search box and hit Enter. Go to the Startup tab and uncheck the ones you do not need.

    Thank you.

  • Let me point out something that might not have been made clear enough in the posts above: the fact that Windows Security Center reports BitDefender as inactive does NOT mean that BitDefender is inactive. All BitDefender security modules run as system services (mostly under BitDefender Virus Shield - vsserv.exe) and they are started right after Windows boot phase has ended. Basically, BitDefender services will be running before you even log on to your system, so you are protected from the very beginning.

However, the module which is used to notify Windows Security Center that everything is up and running with BitDefender is not part of that service. It's part from bdagent.exe (which is also in charge of showing the system tray icon, Scan Activity Bar and BitDefender alerts). And this module is placed in Windows Startup, so it will start after logon (so it starts later than the security service and Widnows Security Center). And because of this starting difference, Windows Security Center ”believes” that BitDefender is disabled, when actually it's already running.

So, bottom line, is that there's no real problem. Yes, there are a few seconds in which Windows alerts you that BitDefender might not be running, but apart from that alert, everything is OK. As long as that alert does disappear after a short while, you have nothing to worry about.

About your schedule issue, try to leave a little more time before Windows starts and the time you schedule the scan. Keep in mind that Windows take a little while to start and also BitDefender needs to check for (also download and install) updates for an accurate scan. I personally don't see any point in scanning your system daily (or even weekly, for that matter), but if you really want to do it, then you should set at least half hour between you start your system and when the scan should start. Just to be sure that everything is ready for a system scan. :)
